This is directed at missionary worthiness interviews which would be, at best, 17 year olds. This post is not about Sam. I think it is ok to think he is wasting his time. This is for the people I have seen here who have claimed that local leaders are not taught to ask these questions. Cheers.

This is two and a half years ago. Newsflash: completely new guidelines for missionary preparation interviews were released several months ago. Also if For The Strength of Youth is what you consider explicit . . . . 10

I think most people are refering to the youth of ages younger than 17 that are not asked explicit questions. Missionary interviews are different in that they are trying to catch any unrepented sinful sexual activity that might be revealed later on, requiring the missionary to return home early from the mission, as mentioned in change #3 in that document. I remember being asked a couple of such questions back in 1972 and it didn't cause me any trauma. I understood why they were asking the questions. 9

Are you aware that people are adults at age 18? What you mean at best 17 years old? But of course you don't answer questions. 6
Thinking Posted August 3, 2018 Posted August 3, 2018 I was never asked any explicit questions. I got the standard "Do you live the law of chastity?" However, I think even that question for a teenage girl could be very uncomfortable. 1

Plus, the ability for someone to apply for a mission before reaching 18 is a relatively new phenomenon. 1

Yeah, I don't think I've seen anyone claim that leaders are never supposed to ask explicit questions - just that asking explicit questions isn't part of routine youth interviews. And let's not forget that young men preparing to go on a mission are also preparing to attend the temple for the first time, which is a far more serious matter. 3

Can you post what is different now? (For those of us who haven’t read them.) Is there somewhere we can read the new guidelines (maybe post them if possible)? It’s difficult to discuss the changes or current ones without being able to read them. Thanks, kllindley! Edited August 3, 2018 by JulieM

The dearth of compassion, charity, and forgiveness evidenced in this post sure give the lie to the assertion that secular humanists don't tend to jettison their babies with their bathwater, don't it? 1

There was a thread on it a while back, but my site search skills are apparently lacking, so here's a link to an article with everything you're looking for (link). Note: The questions themselves are in the embedded letter at the bottom of the article. 1

Her father is likely to be an older married man. I've often heard that such a discussion is uncomfortable. Are you recommending that parents never talk to their kids about sexual activity because it is uncomfortable? 7
