A Lack of Understanding of Racism

I found this 34 min youtube video interesting. In addition to making some key points about the
different types of racism, the pastor reveals a compelling case showing Adam and Eve were
brown-skinned and some key leaders of the Antioch Church were black. It was something that
I never really thought about bedore; myself coming from a white-mindset. In any case, no
theology that I believe in would be affected even if he is correct.  In all the depictions
that I have seen, Adam and Eve were always portrayed as white.

Thoughts?

Jim, I guess I have never thought of Adam and Eve as a specific color.  However, if I tried to guess I think of them as neither black or white, but more of a Brown.  I guess I have never thought of their color as being important.

We are all brown, just different shadings of it and sometimes a little different color thrown in like red for my family.

We may all have drown but I specifically am just beautiful. :)

I think o think of Adam and Eve as white but sibce the Medditerranean area has a lot of olive white skin I think of them like that as well. It really does not matter to me what their skin color was so I don’t think much about.

It matters not to me or most, but I have read the scriptures as much as most any other. There is nothing to suggest Adam and Eve were any race. Beyond that, it is anybody's guess. I do know one of the first coverts after Christ's death and resurrection, was black. Once I was asked by a friend who was Black; What would you do if you met Jesus Christ and he was Black? My reply was instant, I told him that I would fall to his feet and praise him, and kiss his feet.

Watch black Jesus sometime, it's on YouTube.  When I'm dead that's a Jesus I'd  be happy with.  That or Rasta Jesus.

Ok, joking aside, keep in mind the Empire back then was multi ethnic, didn' start seeing the Germanic looking Romans till you were around Milan.  The first churches were most likely serviced by olive skinned people, look up the Coptic orthodox.  There were several bishop seats, thanks to the Turks though rome is one of the few ones left.  As far as aryan Jesus goes, lol I did mention it once when I was in a serious mode.  When they were imposing Christianity on northern Europe no one would have accepted a brown skinned peace loving rabbi, so they made him white.  Google the helliand, fascinating read.  The racism of course caried over to Protestantism and really exploded in the states.  The knowledge is out there if you're willing to look, sadly most aren't.  Good old money, comfort and networking above faith and truth usually wins out.

Hate to sound like such a downer but when you know historical facts and how harsh things were, well you see things in a different light.  Then again when I read the book of mormon after the liahona? I skipped to the warfare and cannibalism.

Have some music.
