What song lifted or ministered to you this week?

And this from a CD purchased months ago I popped in last night, enroute to a museum, and really heard for the first time.

Love this, love Garth too. I hope he comes to Utah soon.

You'd be suprised who you see at massives, seen people in their mid 50's higher than a kite.  Wow, Kaskade is LDS, would have never guessed.

There is a biography of him on Wikipedia: Kaskade.  He served his full-time mission in Japan.

If I had to choose one song for what has shaped me most (and I don't have to choose any single one), I would elect this song my anthem. I consider Kenneth Cope's ministry as playing a key role in transforming me from a bitter Dead Sea to something still awnry at times, but hopefully rolling waters that will one day be deemed/rendered clean/pure.

And then there's Janice Kapp Perry.

He Will Make Mighty His Sons.

For years, that song mustered glimmering/dawning hope, and galvanized courage.

And still does.

As I've said once before, I had the privilege of attending a fireside (within the last year) put on by her and her husband. Amazing experience. The ministry of those two works wonders.

Was a privilege to see her and him in action, in person, motivating/encouraging the youth. Joy.

Yep, I was naughty and infiltrated a youth fireside, uninvited,  being held in the churchhouse nearest the place I was hanging my hat at the time. (A stealth, covert-ops, commando mission. Teancum style. Instead, Janice lanced me through the heart. Sneaky hobbitses, they are.)  I did at least ask/receive a verbal OK to attend, in advance, from someone sitting on the couch in the foyer. I'll count that as permision. Or ask forgiveness later.

Especially two songs by Afterglow.

(During my teenage/mission/earliest-married years, listened to their music perhaps more than anything else).

One of them being ...Poor Wayfaring...a reminder of Hyrum's request (the actual wording of his request is key) that John sing it a second time, that pivotal day in 1844 at Carthage.

At the outdoor concert I attended 8 days ago, one of the people nearby mentioned to a guy sitting next to me (yep, I'm nosy that way) that Afterglow had performed on that same stage the previous week. Didn't even know they were performing. Scooting now to find out if they're performing anywhere else this year...

Hmm, that "previous" week was their last (public) local gig.

The only other public gig I can find for them would require something of a snorkel if one were to drive/walk/pogo-stick there.

Being held in the one place/land where men and hobbits were known to live peacefully side by side. Sneaky, sneaky hobbitses.

Pivoting to a playlist specifically for youth:

Lifehouse...pretty much anything by them

Switchfoot...pretty much anything by them, including especially "This is Home"...in its soundtrack visual context, and "Love Alone is Worth the Fight"

Other suggestions?

Piano Guys - currently hammering away on "I Can't Help Falling in Love".

OK, I'll admit it. I kinda like you.

Hadn't intended this thread to be a blog.

When this thread annoys you, go ahead and ask the mods to shut it down and ship it to Atlantis.
