Stargazer Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 The Today I Found Out YouTube channel's newest video (today) is about the origin of Jell-O. And of course the narrator talks about the Jell-O Belt in Utah -- because we LDS really like Jell-O! I must confess to be extremely ambivalent about Jell-O. I will eat it only when nothing else is available, and sometimes not even then. Yes, I know that makes me a heretic. 3
Tacenda Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 None of my kids like Jello, but I can't help but make it for big dinners, I was raised with it. Jello is actually good for you. https://www.reference.com/health/jello-good-5717cf30cea3c625
Robert F. Smith Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 What if the Jell-O is kosher? Would you eat it then? List of Kosher approved Gelatin suppliers FIT, the largest supplier of Kosher Orthodox Union of Rabbis Certified Gelatin in the United States. Geliko Kosher Gelatin and Collagen Hydrolysate. All their gelatin is certified kosher pareve for Pesach and year round use by the OU. Kolatin Kosher Gelatin OU Certified - Wide Variety Bloom and Mesh - Seamless Runability Gelatin in kosher products is typically derived from kosher fish. Kosher approved gelatin will always have certification on the package indicating whether it is from a meat source or from fish, which is considered pareva, or neutral. Kosher food laws indicate that neutral foods such as eggs, fish, vegetables and grains may be eaten with either meat or dairy. http://www.orthodox-jews.com/kosher-gelatin.html#ixzz4d7ZwBpTT .

Better to dissolve straight gelatin (you can buy it without the sugar) into broth and drink warm. 1

Calm Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 I like double strength cherry jello. Now I am craving it, but only have that wimpy, tasteless Frozen berry flavor in the pantry. Even double strength, it just tastes like sugar.
Calm Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 Love gumdrops and gummies as long as they are not sour. Really like the gummie lifesavers...favorite cherry, of course.
Calm Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 (edited) Has anyone successfully made jello jigglers? I have a Star Wars mold I can't get to work. By the time I get the jello to fall out, it is half melted. (think I will try this version next: http://www.food.com/recipe/jello-jigglers-for-cookie-cutters-111982 ) Edited April 3, 2017 by Calm
