JLHPROF Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 (edited) Supreme Court refused to hear the Brown's challenge to Utah's polygamy law. This means polygamy/"unlawful cohabitation" will remain a crime in Utah.http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv/supreme-court-denies-sister-wives-polygamy-case-petition-article-1.2953337 However since only about 10 people according to another article have been prosecuted under the law in the past decade and there are around 40,000 polygamists I don't see much enforcement. This means that it will take new legislation to ever allow polygamy to be legal. Edited January 24, 2017 by JLHPROF 1
cinepro Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 The reason the Supreme Court wouldn't hear the case is because the Sister Wives people weren't actually being prosecuted. You can't bring a theoretical case to the Supreme Court. 4

If you can wait a year, I would love to introduce you to my daughter if she ever considers marriage as a possibility in her life(it is so unstable now, I don't think she would want to do that to anyone until life is more predictable). She is agnostic at this point though. No reason to trust internal experiences when you know physical state can have all consuming influence. Edited January 24, 2017 by Calm

cdowis Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 I have predicted that, among other things, the legalization of SSM will eventually lead to group marriages.

This law will be changed as soon as some atheist liberal possibly homosexual groups from California start raising a big stink and filing anti-discrimination lawsuits. Heaven forbid it be changed because it infringes on a religion.

thesometimesaint Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Who would want more than one mother-in-law? Sorry mom, I could not resist. You raised a wonderful daughter.
