I'll watch the podcast Tacenda posted and see if it makes me regret ordering the book. I've tossed books written by mormon authors before.

You'll have to listen, it's not a You Tube. I wish I could take to time to listen thoroughly. This day has been nuts!

I'm listening to the podcast now and she's just spending the beginning just bragging about how smart she is and how great she is. 25 minutes in and she's really full of herself. She said that Joseph Smith thought up polygamy himself.

When you get the book, I'll buy it from you, lol. Shoot, I can't believe I'm being this way, I really like her. She's in no way full of herself.

If she thinks Joseph made up polygamy himself then she's full of something.

I'm over an hour in and she doesn't think women can be sealed to multiple men. Apparently she doesn't know after death women can be sealed to her multiple husbands. She claims women have to choose 1 worthy man out of all her husbands and men don't have to.

She makes no claim, but maybe she's claiming someone else claims it. She puts polygamy behind us, so we can move forward.

And how exactly do we do that in an eternal society with eternal marriage?

Moving forward, moving forward. That phrase is starting to bug me. Why must we always be moving forward? Why can't we go laterally on occasion? Or backward? Or , heaven forbid stand still for a minute to collect our bearings? People are told that if they get lost, to stop and stay in one place and they are more likely to be found, but oh no, they insist on constantly moving forward and, in so doing, are found miles away from where they were being search for., if found at all.  ( Rant off )

I don't think that Pearson is far off base in asking us to move forward.  Polygamy has nothing to do with me living the gospel, right now, today.  During my great grandparents time it was part of the gospel and the church, but not today, I don't need to worry about it.  Perhaps in the future it will be reinstated, but that bridge can be crossed when it's arrived at.

I can understand what you are saying about staying put.  Sometimes when we come across thing in the gospel that we don't understand we should just let them be.  Sister Kimball described how when she came across something in the gospel that she didn't understand she would mentally put it up on a shelf.  Later she would take it off the shelf and reexamine it.  Sometimes she would say "now I understand."  Other times it goes back on the shelf.  Seems like wise counsel.
