As your prize, I have awarded you a rep point.

So I get nothing for giving you number 9999?

P.S. TBH I thought your post I repped was much better than your OP in this thread .  :)

No question about it.

Great.  Just another reminder that I am not considered to be as reputable as most of the other people who have posted on this board for as long as I have.

I'm still on the verge of something,  though, I think.

The next person to award me a rep point will have the distinction of putting me at the 10,000 mark. I will thus be the second person (that I'm aware of) to attain that landmark.

I had made up my mind not to mention it before someone else brought it up. But then I thought, "What if no one ever does?"

Congratulations, Scott!

I would have had twice that number of rep points except the moderators made it so none can be awarded me.

But kudos to you, just the same.  ;)

Perhaps if you recommended that everyone give me the rep points that they would give to you if they could we would then see how many rep points I, I mean you,  would get.

Just a suggestion.

What is the point of depriving Consiglieri rep points? I'm thinking that unlike a trained animal, Consig does not perform based upon acknowledgement and/or praise.

Congratulations, Scott Lloyd.

Um, does not perform...???

Where did you get that idea???

Here, I must acknowledge that rep point totals may be as much a function of being prolific as being popular.

For example, smac97's posts are consistently better than mine (and, I would argue, the best on the board) but his total will likely never approach mine, because he doesn't post nearly as often.

I would say much the same about Russell McGregor, but he lost thousands of points in the reboot when the Pahoran account was banned.

(I know that last remark will raise some hackles, but, hey, I didn't get where I am being non-controversial.)

You're not helping me to feel better, Scott.

Maybe you could help though by writing a very prolific and popular post telling guys like me what we can do to get more rep points,  though.

Something like a 'Rep Points for Dummies' book that tells such dummies how we can get more rep points from other people, maybe?

Does not "perform for rep points".

Any other discussions on Consiglieri's "performance" is properly kept between hinself and competant medical providers.

I dunno.   I think any consiglieri's performance is directly tied to how well they sway jurors to their perspective.  And jurors usually express how much they are swayed by something akin to a rep point.  Yeah or Nay/ Guilty or Not Guilty.

You do know what a consiglieri is, don't ya?

And what rep points represent,  too?

Congrats to you, Scott.

Too bad there's not a down arrow for those who wish to express opposition to your posts.  You'd probably be sitting at about zero total if that were the case.

Hah...Just playing.

The only time I  have seen the term was in The Godfather, I do believe.

Presumably, Consig is not legal counsel to a Mafia Don.

If he is not a practicing attorney, he might be in the minority on this board. Apart from myself and one particular well-reputed journalist, this board seems almost entirely populated by attorneys.

Consig is an attorney, as his day job, and on this board he plays the role of the devil's advocate.

I am an accountant, as my day job, and on this board I am often trying to explain things, which I see as common sense issues,  to attorneys and whoever else doesn't seem to see what I see.

Oh, man.  You and I share a common profession?  I think I need to go do some serious self-reflection.

We're both men, too. And different people.

That should explain everything.

Okay, here's a joke for you, then.

Question-- What's the difference between an attorney and an accountant?

Answer-- Accountants know they're not funny.

For an accountant it's not always about trying to be funny, though.  Just trying to account for various cents of humor.

Don't get me started on lawyer jokes now.

I only need 7,800 or so to catch...so there! :):(
