The problem is that I don't see Ahab actually agreeing with the man, but agreeing with what he thinks the man said. Maybe it is because the man used a lot of biblical quotes and Ahab assumes that the man interprets the Bible in the way Ahab does, but I don't see much correspondence between what Ahab is saying and what the man said. Instead Ahab has to rewrite it and explain others' interpretations of the blog as just the man's poor writing. However, the man is very consistent in what he is saying in the way I am interpreting him so I don't see it as likely that I am misreading him that much. One of the Articles of Faith of LDS is that we believe the Bible as long as it is translated correctly as well as we believe in continuing revelation. We don't need to support everything the Bible says or force it to harmonize with what is taught today. We can believe that God taught people according to their own understanding as well as line upon line and perhaps when these things were written, they hadn't gotten to the "lines" that we are taught nowadays about the relationships between men and women. No, actually I used his exact words. It was the Bible that used the term "lord" and he interpreted it as "master". You need to go back and reread what he wrote. You seem to have gotten the wrong idea and are defending that one. Here is the quote: Quote She sees her husband as her master and not her equal partner Edited February 24, 2016 by Calm 2

I really don't want to comb through all of them to find it. Edit: I think I found something of a sort here. He does not redeem himself. If he had said the same thing in the same way about women, over and over that they must please God before they please their husbands, I would have been more impressed or at least less critical. Instead he only refers to women putting God first once sparing four words to the effort ("second only to God") and he quickly reverts to wives pleasing husbands, husbands being masters, etc. Pluse he condemns men that are trying to please their wives first, he does not condemn men that mistrate or abuse or insult their wives...as least that is not the focus of his man blog as it is the focus of his commentary in his woman blog. I see some "poisoning of the well" at hand here, targeted at what is written in the Bible. In another one of his blog posts, this guy uses "quotes from the Bible" to explain why it is A-Okay and Biblically correct for a husband to become sexually aroused by the body of a woman who is not his wife. As Martha Stewart would say "It's a good thing". According to your post above, this man would be correct in his teachings because he used Bible quotes. So I am assuming that you agree with him. And I understand that you are married. I am wondering how your wife would feel about your approval of that teaching. I don't have to wonder, however, how the First Presidency, the Quorum of the 12, and a loooong list of other church leaders would feel about this teaching. 2
Calm Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 More winners: Quote While both man and woman were made for the glory of God, woman glorifies God by being the help meet to man that God designed her to be. Man was made in the image and likeness of God and specifically for the glory of God, but woman was made in the image of man. She was made specifically for man; she is the glory of man. Quote God made woman as a suitable helper for man in this age. After this age the woman’s role as a helper to man, and marriage itself, will no longer exist. Quote Her body is given her as a comfort and pleasure to her husband Quote But while both have dominion over the children, the father is the one who retains ownership of them Quote Other Scriptures refute the idea that both man and woman are both made in God’s image (as opposed to just man being created in God’s image). In the New Testament, Paul makes it very clear that God was specifically talking about making man (males) in his image...
mtomm Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Let's go on: Quote A husband should not be yelling at his wife all the time, while there may be some cause for husband to raise his voice to his wife if she acting in a rebellious way. But even if a husband does yell at his wife more than he should – this is not something for a marriage counselor to solve. This does not mean she cannot bring her concerns to him gently – but there is no cause for a third party in the form of a marriage counselor to come in and undermine his spiritual authority. Quote God defines what a wife’s needs are and how a husband must meet them. He must provide food, clothing, shelter and sex to his wife. He must know her (talk to her and spend time with her) and honor her position as his wife. But how he goes about these tasks is at HIS discretion. It is not the place of the wife to seek out a marriage counselor for her husband’s failures in these types of things. This raises some serious red flags. So much of the "don't seek marriage counseling" blog post raises a giant flag. Flag the size of Texas. Or maybe Alaska since it's bigger. 4
