Could the Church "Do" Christmas Better?

I agree. I find it a bit unfortunate that as a church we seem to have a very specific/narrow view of what it means to worship in a meeting style environment. This is part of what prompted my original post. I think it would be great to bust out of the mundane and be a little more creative.

I took my family to a Christmas Eve service at a Baptist church. It was very well done. Excellent music. A very thoughtful talk from the pastor. A group candle lighting. All of this was done in under 1 hour. It was an excellent experience for my entire family. I find it unfortunate that there is nothing comparable in our church.

I do this at a nearby Polish Catholic Church midnight Christmas eve mass. I'm glad they do it, but it's nice not to be responsible for everything involved with the production. For me, the our equivalent event is the First Presidency Christmas Fireside and lighting of the Temple Square lights. Keeping Christmas Eve and Day free of church events so families can be together doesn't diminish the holiday for me in any way.
