Coreyb Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 I used to live right by the beehive house and took the tour a few times on Sunday walks with the Mrs. and what not. Unfortunately my experiences were disappointing. Few details, not very knowledgeable answers to questions, avoiding the "P" word like the plague. The houses are beautiful though. I really wish the Gardo House was still there 2

mnn727 Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Been a long time (18 years) since I was in Utah, but the guides at the Beehive House didn't hide his polygamy at all when we went through, it was mentioned a few times. Along with other houses for other wives and children.

When we toured the BY home in St. George the lovely young Irish missionary didn't ignore polygamy. Instead she said it was one of the things she "had to come to terms with" about Brigham. Frankly, I was just pleased that she knew about it.

I wonder if that would include any of those who are complaining now...?

Another thing to note is that these tour guides are volunteers and not employees, so that could account for variances in historical knowledge and presentation style.

One of the reasons I avoid religious people IRL, it's tedious, should I ever find myself in SLC I will avoid these places, I can take history mixed with fiction if the tale is good and heavy on history, historical proselytizing, light on history heavy on religion, nope not interested.
Calm Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Do you mean you completely avoid religious people no matter what the situation is just in case they talk about their faith or that you just avoid situations where they would be expected talk about their religion, such as in tours of religious buildings or attending church?
