A Prophet To The World?

I realize that. If only you had a voice of prophetic wisdom to keep the saints from being on the wrong side of history ... AGAIN.

This “history” is the history of a fallen and corrupt world.  The saints are supposed to be on the “wrong side of history.”

It seems to me that we could use the Lord's guidance most when it comes to these larger issues.

These "larger issues" are defined by the Lord, which is why we have D&C 1 as the basis for what His servants do in their guidance role.

The Lord's wisdom of course is not accepted as conventional wisdom.

So is your position that the Lord wanted His Church to sit out the Civil Rights Movement while many of the "abomination" churches showed incredible bravery and courage in fighting injustice with love?

In other words (so it would seem), you (mormonnewb) want the Prophet to be telling others what you wish they would be out there doing, what you think is important rather than what others might believe is a better use of their time and resources.

The prophets are always telling us what they think would be a better use of our time and resources (temple, tithing, home teaching, etc.). Yet, on this issue, they should shrug their shoulders and say, "Do what you think is best"?

Some of the content in this thread isn't going anywhere good. Everyone think happy Christmas thoughts.
