I'd say part of applying the Gospel to ourselves is applying it to others. If we don't judge right and wrong in the world, we can't apply the Gospel to ourselves at all.

 

For example, Jesus holds himself out as our Exemplar.  If we judge his example to be good, then we do what he did.  Otherwise, we don't do it at all. We have others in the world crying 'lo here' and 'lo there'. We must judge them and what they're offering as good or evil if we are to navigate life.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the same whether applied to one's self or another person. It isn't better and it doesn't become better when it's applied to one's self.

Does this mean I can stop doing missionary, family history, and temple work? Because that will be a huge relief and I can focus entirely on how the gospel impacts my life.
