Sharing The Good News Online

So for a good while now, much of the apostolic counsel to youth and young adults (my people) has been to share the gospel online. I am all for doing this, but not really sure what to do. Most of the Mormon internet evangelism I see is endless regurgitation of short videos and memes produced by the Church, with an occasional testimonial posted on a Facebook wall that resembles what you might hear at church on fast sunday, but with more hash-tags. Then there is the bloggernacle, but to be honest, I don't think many non-mormons read mormon blogs, and given the fact that they tend to be endless debates on pointless subjects, I wouldn't recommend it to any.

 

So, do ya'll have any suggestions? Does anyone on here make an effort to proselytize online? This is a serious question I have thought about quite a bit

Last year I linked my mormon.org and Facebook accounts and began accepting friend requests from strangers. So far I've referred one man to the missionaries, and I've had productive conversations with others.

 

Also, please don't overlook the quiet effect the things you post may have on people. Just last week I had an old girlfriend tell me that my Facebook posts over the past several have helped both her and her husband return to God and begin attending church.

I think letting your light shine by your online conduct, comments about your life, and especially any mesasges you leave as inspired by the Spirit would be effective forms of online proselytizing.

I respect that you are interested in online evangelism, despite the fact that you and I are playing for different teams, so to speak. Not many people have enough concern for others' spiritual well-being that they are willing to put themselves out there and do something.

What sorts of things are you interested in doing online? Are you interested in apologetics, i.e. defending your faith and reaching those who are skeptical? Are there specific groups of people you are wanting to reach?

ETA: Some people seem to look down on apologetics as "just debate", but IMO there are people who need to have an involved debate and have their objections and concerns addressed before they will come to accept Christ.
