"Did you hear about _______? After he left the Church, he started doing _______ and _______. It's just awful! After losing the spirit, he lost control of his life."

Membership is still increasing but the growth rate continues to decline. I haven't looked at the numbers in a while but I think the current trend puts us at zero growth within a couple decades (though I'd expect it to start leveling off). So thesometimesaint could be correct that the greatest threat is "lack of testimony".

There are some that feel that increasing one's gospel and historical knowledge is akin to decreasing ones testimony. Other's the ability to think critically about one's religion. In other cases a persons political or cultural leanings or influence becomes a measure of decrease testimony. Although I agree with the principle of your statement I am not sure how you would properly define or measure such a statement.

I think the greatest danger right now comes in the form of members who believe that the brethren could be wrong on an issue and assume that they, the member, know better. We see that to the greatest degree with same-sex marriage. It is hubris is believing we, as individual members, somehow know more or are more wise than the prophets. It is the natural gateway to rejecting the prophets.
