Tacenda Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 I guess I'm in a Mormon bubble, I hadn't realized we were made fun of so much. Well done on putting those together!

Adjust the Youtube quality settings for best viewing. Enjoy. Brilliant, wonderful, and funny, Joel, although there are a lot more such references out there.

Garden Girl Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Just last night I was watching the History2 Channel and they had a program on doomsday prophecies... and cited Nostradamus, Edgar Cayce and Joseph Smith... So I watched to see what they would say about Joseph. To my surprise they treated him respectfully as they cited what they called the "White Horse" prophecy, but did not mock or hold it up for derision... they mentioned his being the "founder of the Mormon Church" but again did not mock... simply told of the "wars and rumors of war... nation against nation," and of the Constitution being trampled etc... no mention of the priesthood saving it... but did say that to avoid the prophecies the world would have to turn back to the spiritual... Frankly, as they read of Joseph's prophecy it sounded just like what is going on now all around the world... and I was surprised at how matter of factly they referred to Joseph... GG
Whiskeypete Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Regarding the Cheers clip, originally Rebecca says (near the end), "I just wish somebody would send me some d##n flowers". Years ago, I was going to show that clip to someone, but didn't want the swearing, so I edited the audio track, muting out the d##n, and just repeated the word "some" so that the audio would still be in sync. Sounds like she is stuttering a bit there. I don't recall where I uploaded it to, but it is funny that now this is the more common version of this clip on youtube. My 47 seconds of fame, I guess.

Mahoneymoriancumer Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 My favorite Mormon clip has always been the one from South Park, where people are shown at orientation in he**. When several people ask why they are there, they are told they chose the wrong religion. The tour guide checks his list and says the correct answer was Mormon.
Calm Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Rowan Atkinson's welcome to hell speech: at least two versions, we are in this one:http://www.inf.fu-berlin.de/lehre/WS06/pmo/eng/audio/Devil.pdfBetter to listen to it on YouTube, but you might have to try a couple of times
Nofear Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 They Call Me Trinity has quite a few interactions with Mormons (and I forget if the sequel does). Watched that show in a YM social activity when I was a youth. One small example:
