I sometimes had a hard time understanding why I should show gratitude to an omnipotent being watching my life fall apart.Elder Oaks explanation confirmed much of what I thought about the priesthood while administering a kindly rebuke to others.I also liked the warnings about the internet but was rather smug about my "cyber profile". I use blockers and disguise my ip when I head into the wild wild web. 2

"What type of woman would do something so courageous and so irrational?"That's not a direct quote but close enough. My husband and I are still laughing about that. 1

Some of your content has been downright insulting to folks who've contended with the LDS line. But I do respect your willingness to be vulnerable. And in my own experience--God can use the low points to break our idols and turn our minds and hearts to him, painful though it is at the time... Truly hope that becomes your experience --Erik
Duncan Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 (edited) I hate to say but the YM general presidency brother's talk didn't cut the mustard. I dunno, it seemed so EFY to me and I was 13 again and was being talked down to and seemed so fakey foo for my liking. But whatever, i've been told my voice is like the axe at the back of a theatre-only to be used in emergencies. I liked Pres. Packer's talk. Elder Christofferson, to me, is like the new Pres. Howard W. Hunter just has that air of holiness and spirituality and when they walk in he room it's like a bomb going off and you take notice. I have never met Pres. Truly hope that becomes your experience --ErikThanks, I do try to be abrasive only with those who deserve it or need it. I am sometimes wrong. Still, some people do need insulting. I try not to throw the first punch but I often find my opponent wants to pretend it is all polite and cloak their insults in feigned ignorance and false innocence and while there are many stupid people in the world I have never met someone that selectively stupid. So I either mock or insult directly back.I do have critics of the faith here I genuinely like. With them I just discuss and argue normally with less offensive humor. 1

I almost teared up a couple of times.I was amazed at how well Pres. Monson spoke, and he looked amazing. He doesn't seem to show any signs of the rumored Alzheimer's. I was so glad, believe it or not.

JeremyOrbe-Smith Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 (edited) I had to work Saturday, so I was only able to catch Sunday's talks, but Uchtdorf and Monson were the only ones worth listening to (the ideas in Perry's talk were downright horrifying). mtomm Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 I've always pretty much slept through Elder Bednar's talks. I know he is a favorite of many but he just never clicked for me so I was quite pleased to really enjoy his talk and I'll forgive him the April 6th faux pas. President Packer bore a powerful testimony of the Savior. I always recall hearing Elder McConkie's last testimony and how powerfully I felt it. This felt quite a bit like that.
Rivers Posted April 7, 2014 Author Posted April 7, 2014 I've always enjoyed Bednar's talks. He's one of the GA's that actually keeps my attention. He taught some great some stuff about the atonement this time around. I liked how he talked about Christ sharing our yoke and burden with us.

I'd like to cast my vote for the Saturday morning session as the GC winner.
