When Did Adam First Walk The Earth?

No, it did not come from Brigham Young. It did not come from Joseph Smith. It came from the scriptures that were restored through the prophet Joseph Smith.

Have you got a reference to Adam's biological reproductive descent of God recorded by Joseph Smith?

I didn't realize that the publishing department of the Church was the real source of all God's truth.

No, BC is because he has ordained them as such.

OD2 jokes are never appropriate.

I can't believe you said that.

If there was no death before the fall, I wonder where God got the "coats of skins?"

I guess some poor critter got sacrificed prematurely before it was possible to die.  Ouch.

The coats came from Kolobian sheep.

If that was intended humorously a wink or other indicator adds clarity to second party perception.

In case it was intended seriously,

1. Do you have a reference for that?

2. If physical death wasn't possible before the fall, why would it be possible on Kolob, and if death is restricted to earth, would this make it impossible in your view to die by exiting earth, for example would death be impossible on Mars or the moon?

So not the point...

Actually it is right on point. It would be physically dangerous to folllow the orders of an assumed legal authority. Just like it would be religiously dangerous to follow the orders of an assumed spiritual authority.

I agree, and feel the people that gave their lives because they tried living those teachings are in need of substantiation. We cheapen their lives somewhat when we don't include the teachings as part of our LDS canon.

I'm just as glad I don't have to build a boat like Noah had to.

So if my parents were born on earth, and raised on earth, and eat the food of the earth, then I could understand how my parents could biologically reproduce me *and* I could be formed "of the dust of the earth" since the physical aspect of my parents is nothing more than dust of the earth from which I am physically formed at reproduction.

However, if Adam's mother and Father were extra terrestrials (ie kolobites or whatever), then when they reproduced Adam could be formed of the dust of Kolob, but presumably not Earth.

How do you explain Adam as both biologically descended of God Kolobite *and* formed of the dust of the earth?

We're actually closer to ancient sea water than dust.

I don't know what an immortal being is capable of. So let just say that life as we know it doesn't live on the moon, sun, or Mars.

faux fur... :)

If the fall occurred the second they bit into the fruit, then the coats of skin came after the fall...though it may have been frightening for Adam and Eve to witness the animals start eating one another.

Very simple, it was taken from animals after the fall of Adam.  His fall occurred immediately after he partook of the fruit.  We can speculate that these were animals outside the Garden.

Umh, this whole argument assumes that the Garden of Eden and its special condition encompasses the whole Earth.  The Whole Earth as Garden of Eden presents a lot of unnecessary problems with Scientific studies.  If the Garden of Eden is, on the other hand, only that a Garden place -- then you have animals outside the Garden living, dying, laying down sediment, being compressed into coal and oil, etc. etc. -- so they can provide the required materials.

Personally I have no desire to meet a living T-Rex inside or outside of any garden.

My suspicion is that TRex was long gone before Adam exited the garden, it was a garden place not Jurassic Park.

I had a religion professor at BYU tell our class that he had discovered that lizards never stop growing during their lives. They continue to grow until the moment they die. Given the long "creative periods," the dinosaurs just kept growing and growing and growing until the Fall.

Of course, this was the same guy who spent a few minutes every class talking about the medicinal qualities of cayenne pepper.

Oddly enough, this wasn't an Old Testament class or a Food Sciences class, but a missionary preparation class. My cousin was in the same class, and she and I did a lot of eye-rolling that semester. Then I went on my mission and she got married.

And my wife doses stuff with Cayenne pepper for health benefits whenever she gets on a health kick.

When I went to BYU I had a few profs whom I wondered if I was of the same religion. ;)

Lemon juice, honey and cayenne pepper are great for cough or sore throat.

Yes, but should that be the focus of a religion class at a university? I remember my cousin saying to me, "Can you believe we're paying tuition for this?" :)

Probably has more to do with the Vitamin C in the Chilies than anything else.

http://www.healthaliciousness.com/articles/vitamin-C.php

An excellent way to spice up soups, curries, and sauces, green chillies provide the most vitamin C than any other food with 242.5mg (404% DV) per 100 gram serving, 181.88mg (303% DV) in a half cup chopped, and 109.13mg (182% DV) in a single green chili pepper. Red chillies provide 144mg (240% DV) of vitamin C per 100g serving, 108mg (180% DV) per half cup chopped, and 65mg (108% DV) per pepper

He simply stepped outside the garden where they were lying about.

Sometimes it is better to pay attention instead of rolling your eyes.  The worst that could happen is you would gain another perspective and, who knows, you might even learn something valuable.

No, I never claimed there was a reference from Joseph Smith.  I do have a reference from the scriptures though.

Moses 6 is listing the physical genealogy of the patriarchs and says:

22 And this is the genealogy of the sons of Adam, who was the son of God, with whom God, himself, conversed.
(Moses 6:22)
