58 New Missions!

A while ago Italy went from four missions to two and the French speaking missions combined from four to two last year.

I note that, significantly, only one of these 58 new missions is in 'Europe', and that's in Ukraine, about as far on the fringes of the cultural region as one can get.

Whilst doing my PhD, I remember reading that those parts of 'Europe' which had Christianised before the Protestant Reformation/Catholic Reform had all pretty much de-Christianised now, whilst those parts of Europe which Christianised later had maintained a Christian identity. I could be wrong, but I expect the Church will pay very little attention to Western Europe for the forseeable future.

It's completely ridiculous to me in a great way that Wichita, Kansas is becoming it's own mission. We've always been in the Independence, Missouri mission.

I'm like..7 miles south of Wichita. :)

Com'ere and say that.

I fear no Utahn. At the Second, Third or Fourth coming of Jesus...SLC will be the first city swallowed up by the mouth of hell. Well, either SLC or the state of Wisconsin...

ETA: University of Utah will be lifted up and translated. Just ask Garden Girl!

You need Garden Girl to fight your battles, tough guy?

No. I took a shot at her because she is a BYU cesspit fan.

I was going to make a crack about your picking on women, but in a grudge match I think Garden Girl is more than a match for you and any three of your blowhard, Utah-bashing buddies.

Utah isn't all bad...that was difficult to type out but I feel better now. GG, knows how I feel about BYU. I don't have Utah bashing buddies. I don't think I have any friends that don't like Utah. But that's ok...no one is perfect.

interesting. The number of missionaries hasn't increased dramatically though, right?

I'd say this is a concerted effort to contract the size of each mission, providing less missionaries per Mission President. Rather than a huge boom in missionary work.

It's a good move either way. Mission Presidents have too many missionaries and areas under their wings as is and this will help provide a better relationships between President and missionary and more knowledge of each area.

One of my good friends and his wife were called to preside over one of these new missions. According to what the mission department shared with him the number of missionaries in increasing dramatically and they expect to have over 90,000 missionaries in the field in the next year or so. We shall see.
