I see plenty wrong with it.

1. We have no way of knowing what if any religious views form a persons governmental ideas.

2. An individual may disagree with some part of the particular doctrines of their church.

3. An individual may disagree with the public's perception of that doctrine of their church.

4. To use a religious test even on a personal level is contrary to the spirit of the law. IE. Say you are a Christian. You have a choice to make between a candidate whom professes to be an Atheist. Further you agree with his/her ideas about governance. The other candidate is a professed Christian, but you disagree with their ideas about governance

Do you vote for the person because of their religion/lack there of, or do you vote for their ideas about governance?

I wish you were right, Sometimesaint. In an ideal world, you use common sense and vote for the person who can govern the best. However, a solid chunk of voters lack the intellect and emotional maturity to vote using a common sense approach. I would like these voters to stay home, but unfortunately they do not do so.

I wish I could say that all voters will choose a candidate who shares their values without using a religious litmus test. Unfortunately, even in the 21st Century we are not there yet.

Common sense has never been very common.;) I don't wish anyone whom is eligible to vote stay home. To be a true participatory republic we need everyone's voices, and votes. There really is no excuse for not being informed about the issues of the day. Our form of government requires it.

Did Thomas Jefferson's rewriting of the Bible, deleting all references to miracles, and the divinity of Christ some how make him a worse President?

That would make him a President who espoused the belief in a false Christ (one is who not Divine) - much like the

way Jehovah Witnesses preach a Jesus who is Michael the Archangel.

No American has stood behind the words of the Declaration of Independence since March 4, 1789 when the US Constitution was ratified.

Do all Americans now stand against all the words in the Declaration of Independence? If yes, can you specifically

show how?

Thanks,

Jim

Yes we all do. We are no longer in rebellion against Great Britain. I don't know how old you are but it is doubtful you are older than the Treaty of Paris. The Treaty of Paris ended that rebellion. Moreover the US Constitution supersedes the Declaration of Independence.

That's easy ==>>

I would vote for almost anyone over Harry Reid. I think their character is more important than their nominal claim to my religion, and their political ideas come in a close second.
