Also I don't claim there are 3 groups, Moroni did. He is he one that wrote he title page of the BorM under the direction of God. Moroni said there are 3 groups. The Lamanites(Joseph), the Jews( Judah), and the Gentiles(rest of the world). Notice he did not include the 10 tribes because they will come from the north after the New Jerusalem is built. See 3 Nephi 21. The chosen lineage came from Shem who was the prince of peace.

Yours is a simplistic reading of the Title page. Notice that he leaves out the Lamanites when he speaks of convincing Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ? If there are three groups and only three groups, why does Moroni leave out the Lamanites in the second paragraph of the Title page? I suggest that there is a degree of interchangeability between the terms. Consider also the following:

And it shall come to pass that the Jews shall have the words of the Nephites, and the Nephites shall have the words of the Jews; and the Nephites and the Jews shall have the words of the lost tribes of Israel; and the lost tribes of Israel shall have the words of the Nephites and the Jews.

(2 Nephi 29:13)

Notice here that the Gentiles are left out? But, when you take the context of the previous verse, there are four groups rather than three!

For behold, I shall speak unto the Jews and they shall write it; and I shall also speak unto the Nephites and they shall write it; and I shall also speak unto the other tribes of the house of Israel, which I have led away, and they shall write it; and I shall also speak unto all nations of the earth and they shall write it.

(2 Nephi 29:12)

So, we have Jews, Nephites, other tribes, and all the nations of the earth (Hebrew: nations = gentiles). But, what of the Lamanites? If the Nephites would be all destroyed, how would they have the words of the other tribes of Israel? What about the words spoken to those of all nations?

The numbers are not hard and fast but are general terms.

I suggest you study the scriptures on this subject before dismissing claims on the basis that Nephi said this or that. It is very obvious, for instance, that the labels of "Nephite" and "Lamanite" soon lost much of their genetic connotations and became political designations. The Nephites referred to any and all who opposed them as Lamanites irrespective of lineage. Similarly, many Jews today assume anyone who isn't a Jew is a Gentile; a very simplistic view at best.

But it appears to me that you seem very reluctant to listen to or consider the abundant evidence that the British Isles and Northern Europe are peopled by Israelites ( and by extension so are the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand etc), irrespective of the scriptural evidence, historical evidence, and the pronouncements of latter-day prophets, including Joseph Smith and Brigham Young.

I will take an angel of gods word over JS and Brigham Young anyday. I will take Nephi's words over them as well. There is a contradiction in the scriptures eh? God is a God of order not confusion. Again in 1 Nephi 13 The Angel refers to the people invading America as Gentiles! In verse 12 he says Christopher Columbus is a Gentile! In verses 13-16 it refers to the pilgrims as Gentiles! In verse 17 The Angel of God refers to your nation Great Britain as the mother Gentile! In verse 20 a book was carried by them(Gentiles) is the bible. We all know that the Spanish and English brought the bible over to America. God calls you a Gentile in this chapter. Now since you are a member and if you make it to the end you will be adopted into the house of Israel.

Mormonmason are you a lawyer by profession? You sure do like to twist words. God left out the Lamanites in the next paragraph because he knew once they accept the BofM they will be saved and led unto salvation. God was more worried about the Jews and Gentiles because of the hardness of their hearts. The Jews won't be converted entirely until Jesus Christ shows himself unto them. The Gentiles will reject the fullness of the gospel and will need to be convinced that Jesus is the Christ. This is who the Lamnites were left out in the next paragraph. They dont need to be convinced they are the literal seed of Joseph and Israel. They will have in hand the record of their forefathers even The Book of Mormon.

Alan, the only Israelite blood found in the US is in the Native Americans(Lamanites). The only Israelite blood in Canada is with the Natives(Lamanites) also. I think there is some Israelite blood in all nations including Britian. Nephi tells us that right here:

First Nephi 22:3

Wherefore, the things of which I have read are things pertaining to things both ^atemporal and spiritual; for it appears that the house of Israel, sooner or later, will be ^bscattered upon all the face of the earth, and also ^camong all nations.

Jacob 5 discusses Israel being scattered, and being grafted to a wild tree. Being grafted into a gentile world and losing memory of their origins is what happened to Israel. The Book of Mormon is intended to help restore people to a knowledge of their fathers. To help Gentiles (those grafted into a Gentile world) realize that they are Israelites.

Jacob 5 is open to interpretation! The Gentiles being grafted into the olive tree means they will be adopted into Israel not become the literal seed. They become as a branch and not the root.
