I'd say that's a good non-tare-ish attitude to have!

Let the sifting begin! :) I also want to repent of all my tare-ish ways, and its because I don't want to burn! I hear

that really hurts.

CAS, Fascinating post and comments -- thank you. This has given me much food for thought. I like that you acknowledge that it is difficult (and maybe impossible) for us to separate the wheat from the tares. And I appreciate your (and others) expression of desire to be counted as wheat. This is inspiring to me.

I'd say the tares are those who have faith from God to help them know what God wants but don't live up to their knowledge.

It's kinda hard to use a tree analogy for that kind of thing because we're told that all trees, and all of nature itself, is doing all they are supposed to be doing. Plants and animals aren't evil. It's just some of us people who are.

Also understand that ignorance of God's will is a valid excuse for not doing what God wants, because if you don't know what God wants you can't do it. We should all be trying to get to know God, though, while trying our best to get to know him better and better, until at some point we find out what he wants. At that point, then, if we rebel against God, we're becoming a tare instead of wheat. But we can keep changing until it is time for the harvest. At that time we will be judged for what we are.
