KevinG Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 CFRGet in line. I'm still waiting for a statement where Dan Cathy is specifically targeting gays with hate speech. (Which makes me mean and hypocritical).
ERayR Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 One problem that I have with this whole issue is immaturity. I would hope that Americans would be a mature people and act like mature adults. It is amazing just what distracts Americans from the real issues that plague that society. I do believe that every summer something happens to entertain the herd. I remember many years ago it was Roseann Barr and her singing of the national anthem. Then, it was Pee Wee Herman and on and on.What this CEO said is not really newsworthy at all. In fact, the rest of the world is laughing at the Americans and their immaturity when it comes to what is actually important: what do to with the mass dislocation of people because of greed and selfishness as demonstrated in the reasons for the economic crisis of 2008.It is not immaturity but political diversion.
MorningStar Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 I guess reading the Bible automatically makes you a hater, therefore you deserve what you get.
Zakuska Posted August 6, 2012 Author Posted August 6, 2012 For some comic releif to a tense situation:Drag Queen Trio Sings: (Viral video) Chow down at Chick-Fil-ASung to Wilson Philips: Hold on: Things will go your wayh t t p://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sO-msplukrw***WARNING FOR THE SENSITIVE***1 F-Bomb includeda few other choice words
USU78 Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 The movement is full of people picking the wrong targets. Are you quite sure that there is a mistake here, and that the choices of target [religions, especially unpopular religions, etc] are not chosen after cool, considerate reflection and discussion?
Ron Beron Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Now, I don't agree with these people's approach at all. Don't do it. What I'm about to say is also not to condone their behavior (though I don't think it was that bad, plus we don't hear what the man reading his Bible said)....but let's just put things in perspective a little. If this person is an Evangelical, this person believes that these men, and in fact all Mormons, too, deserve going to Hell and be tortured forever. You, your sons and daughters, your parents, and everyone who you love that is not a true Protestant believer deserves to suffer unspeakable tormet without end. This he would consider justice.Think about it. What can these people possibly believe about this man that is worst than what the man may believe about these protestors? This is painting with a broad a brush as the gay protestors did. Not all evangelicals believe we are "going to hell". Many think that we are simply misled and misinformed, but not necessarily going to hell. Maybe L.A., but not hell.
KevinG Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Maybe L.A., but not hell....resisting....urge....to...take...bait...
Damien the Leper Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Whine, whine, whine!! Why doesn't everyone just whine a little more?!? There are so many people crying victim in this fight that I would be cool if the government eliminated marriage and civil unions for everyone!! Wanna be in a relationship with someone...knock yourself out. You wanna get married? Too bad...suck it up.But we can't have this because there will again the incessant whining of those who feel they have been victimized. Like I said, everyone's a victim. Poor guy reading the Bible...he is a victim for his conviction.Poor Mormon at the Mesa Easter Pageant who is ridiculed for his beliefs and testimony...he is a victim for his conviction.Poor gay person who is ridiculed and bullied for being themself...they are a victim of their right to be real and honest. On a much more serious note...when are we going to stop seeing race or gender or religion or sexual orientation...just so that we can finally see the children of a loving God for whom none of this really matters?Wishful thinking...I know. We humans are so depraved that we cannot allow for the fullness of mutual respect and love. Can't have that because someone has to be more right or a better solution than the rest.I wonder if this is what Jesus died for. Ya know? Our right to buckets, to be physically, spiritually, emotionally and mentally violent. That's why we have Resurrection and Atonement...so that we can constantly be at war with each other and ourselves.I guess what I'm learning is that humanity is its own worst enemy. We use God and scripture and moral ethics to the extent that I don't know how we haven't imploded.Anyway...just my two cents of meaningless ranting in favor of love, compassion, charity and mercy. I know I'm being ridiculous after all. Stupid, naive me...

blackstrap Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 I thought this whole business started with a WAR in Heaven! The acorn doesn't fall far from the tree.
Damien the Leper Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 All I heard was a bunch of Whining. You're right. How dare I whine about love, compassion, charity and mercy. That mess is for the weak hearted and weak minded. I suppose that I should look to my avatar to remind me of such weak foolishness and to destroy anyone who promotes any kind of such foolishness.
Libs Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Valentinus...LOL!! I needed that break, after reading through this thread! Also, thought that video was pretty funny, Zakuska! With that, I am out of here.

The Nehor Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 I thought this whole business started with a WAR in Heaven! The acorn doesn't fall far from the tree.Yes but that was won by testimony not by claiming to be victimized by big bad Lucifer who was saying bad things about us and crawling in a corner and crying.
The Nehor Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Are you quite sure that there is a mistake here, and that the choices of target [religions, especially unpopular religions, etc] are not chosen after cool, considerate reflection and discussion?Pretty sure. I do not buy into the left-wing conspiracy of coordinated people carefully crafting wise strategy. I don't buy it on the right either. Conspiracy theorists are optimists. They believe the people in charge have a plan and are capable of carrying it out. I think that is a comforting delusion.
blackstrap Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 All it takes for a conspiracy today is a few 'tweets' ,from a twit er... I mean tweeter.

The Nehor Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 And thus he stealthily leadeth them down to hell. It really doesn't matter what you think.I base it off scripture actually. Look at the secret combinations in the Book of Mormon. They generally couldn't conspire their way out of a paper bag. Other then occasionally bumping someone off they were pretty much abject failures.

They generally couldn't conspire their way out of a paper bag. Other then occasionally bumping someone off they were pretty much abject failures. You misread what the secret combinations were and how affective they were. The brought down two civilizations ( Jaredites and Nephites). They almost brought the Nephites down 400 years earlier but the advent of Jesus Christ and what happened with that blocked them. However all that is for another thread. Don't need to derail this one.
KevinG Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Just to show my indignation at behaving badly is not limited to one side of the discussion. This man is an idiot:http://www.thesmokinggun.com/buster/cheerios-burning-protest-567341
Doctor Steuss Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Hopefully any "bad behavior" on both sides remains only vocal, and doesn't become physical.
KevinG Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Hopefully any "bad behavior" on both sides remains only vocal, and doesn't become physical.Unfortunately with vandalism at one Chick-fil-a store and a bomb threat at another that is already a dashed hope.I'm hoping it all kind of fizzles out at this point. With the shooting of the Sikh Temple real hate has reared its ugly head.
thesometimesaint Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 KevinG:Unfortunately those are just signs of the greater hate within."I disagree strongly with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."Voltaire
KevinG Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Unfortunately those are just signs of the greater hate within.Within where? I don't follow.Love the Voltaire quote by the way. It applies to Dan Cathy and SSM activists equally as long as their actions do not cross the line into illegality.
thesometimesaint Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 KevinG:How much more hate must a person have within themselves to actually go out and hurt someone?
