It is saying that you will basically be transformed just by dying.Does that mean when we die there is no more progress?What does everybody think?Sidenote- wish I could remember scriptures... did not have enough posts to create forum when I read them...

Call For References, please.I've been a member for roughly twenty years and have never heard any such thing in an LDS setting.Does that mean when we die there is no more progress? The closest statement you will find to that effect is that this life is the time to make one's repentance.Of course, the fact that we do baptisms and other proxy ordinances for the dead suggests that they will have the opportunity to accept those ordinances- and thus "progress".More specifically, we are told, taught, and commanded not to procrastinate the day of our repentance.If salvation and repentance weren't important enough to be front and center in your life, they will not be front and center in your death.Sidenote- wish I could remember scriptures... did not have enough posts to create forum when I read them... Ironically, the Scriptures still exist.A little digging should be sufficient for you to locate them.
CASteinman Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Hmmm.. can you cite the scripture you were reading? The LDS Doctrine is not that you become perfect at the time you die, but rather that over the course of time -- it may be a long time -- you may become perfected.

And it refers to restoring the body to a perfect form.Objective perfection is unreachable by any of us during mortal life. And the atonement makes up the difference between our personal best after baptism, and quick repentance, and that standard, so that each day we are perfect in Christ. Hopefully each day the gap between objective perfection and our personal best is reduced. But in this life we must have the Atonement to close the gap entirely.
