Unless the Church can come up with an amazingly new and ground breaking method of dealing with the problem, we will see the problem become more and more prevalent until it is just the status quo.

My prediction for General Conference is that some of the messages will be subjected online to both praise and scorn (past performance is the best predictor of future performance).

2. There will be five sessions: three on Saturday and two on Sunday.
   
3. General Authorities of the Church will give talks.
   

I'm sticking my neck out, I know; but let's see if the following are any less safe:

1. If President Packer speaks, the ever-vigilant reprobate clique will go over his words, eager to find a pretext to take offence.
   
2. Pseudo-Christians will "protest" the fact that freedom of religion applies to Mormons too.
   
3. Ex'ed Mormons, ex-Mormons, fringe Mormons, cafeteria Mormons and the terminally disaffected will find something to whine about.
   
4. The pure in heart, the wise, the noble and the virtuous will find a spiritual feast.

Yeah... I find it sad that they are repeated so often. I'm guessing it has nothing to do with the brethren enjoying speaking about such topics.

So, any predictions for General Conference? I think Elder Jensen of the Pres. of the 70 is getting released and so another one will be called, Marlin K. Jensen and Keith Hilbig are emeritus this time around. Sad to see both Elder Jensen's go as I have hoped either would've been called to the Twelve. I am hoping for Temples in non US areas. New Seventies others getting released I imagine. Any other thoughts?

While I’m not exactly expecting it, an interesting thing to see would be more of an apologetic tone in the talks. Elder Holland has come pretty close to giving a few of these before. More often than not, the speakers seem to virtually ignore the controversies constantly swirling around the Church – and it always ends up being about faith and repentance and other very basic gospel principles. Not that there’s anything wrong with that!! I certainly need faith and repentance.

I predict that the Brethren will come down hard on the men during the Priesthood session.

I can only hope for comments about the literal, worldwide flood of Noah and negative comments about organic evolution (especially Adam's body not being the result of evolution).

And it's been a while since Elder Nelson reminded us that Adam and Eve had no blood before the fall, so it would be good to hear that again.

I predict profound and simple talks on Gospel topics, especially repentence and the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I expect at least one Easter talk and mention of Palm Sunday. And I expect the Spirit to be incredibly powerful and uplifting.

A good friend of mine was a Bishop in Rio. His tongue in cheek comment was "Its hard to keep a Temple Recommend during Carnival".

A few weeks ago, we had our meeting schedule shortened to 1 hour (Sacrament meeting only). They told us it was because the building was needed for some meetings that afternoon, but I'm pretty sure it was a pilot program.

I think a shortening of the schedule will come eventually, but it would be due to the elimination of Sunday School. I'm not holding my breath, though.
