And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, "How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Foot-Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word." (1 Kgs 18:21)

Hey, I got to church today by telling myself how much better my daily nap would be if I went. There is just something divine about shedding church clothes, putting on pjs and sliding into the best bed in the world with a clean conscience.

Kudos, Cal! I hope both the nap and Church were exceptionally good today. :)

I'm with Nehor on this one.

However, I remember hearing as a youth that "Day of Rest" did not mean take a nap. They explained that "rest" simply meant a change of activities; collecting fast offerings, visiting the sick or elderly, or reading the scriptures. Seemed like someone wanted to make sabbath observance as painful as possible.

Anyone else hear that line as well?

I did. I realized the source (a Type-A or Red personality depending on how you classify these things always on the go and unhappy if not busy) and decided he was projecting his own idea of meritorious activity on to his Sabbath.

If God wanted me to be a maniac on Sundays with lots to do he would have had me meet my wife and then called me as a Bishop. He did not and I am content with his decision. Well, at least with the second part.

If the Lord doesn't want me to take naps, he's going to have to do something about my sleep disorder....which would get no argument from me.

It was a glorious one btw. :)

By the way, President Kimball listed sleeping as appropriate sabbath-day behavior. I won't bother looking up the passage in Miracle of Forgiveness, but it's in there.

If the Lord didn't want me to take naps on Sundays, he shouldn't have had me ordained a high priest!
