In this section we plan on inviting members of the LDS community to create a topic in which they can individually control all aspects of the discussion and the rest of the board members can interact with them. This will allow the op to keep the discussion focused on the op and will allow them to delete off topic threads without getting mods involved. This could be kind of seen like a blog entry. My question is does the board prefer me to great a sub forum in general discussion or place it outside in its own folder? Give me your thoughts. Also start preparing for live chat focused discussions.Nemesis

Mola Ram Suda Ram Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 I think my only issue with the sub forum is that it is one more thing to click on to to get to the discussion. Is that a big deal? No not really. However having sub forums would be a nice way to organize were everything is supposed to go. Perhaps one of the subforums would be the interfaith idea you had. I guess there would be at leats 3 sub forums under "General discussion"?

For clarity of distinguishing it from open dialogue, it would be better as a seperate forum. This would also empahsize its unique nature compared with what is done on other discussion boards.Larry P

Have a forum for the snobs and ivory tower tenured types and a forum for "common" people. All subjects acceptable in both. Allow us all to pretend to be one or the other as the mood strikes so all may post in either forum. The first forum to be heavily moderated, the second forum to be lightly moderated. There is some of each type in all of us and where one type is more dominant within, that is the forum where we will post most. Self-moderated threads in the Ivory Tower Forum.Add to that an off topic/social forum and you've got it. No need for a "Telestial" type of forum. Go ahead and be cynically and humorously creative:Ivory Tower ForumCommon (Vulgar) ForumSocialite ForumScattered Topics ForumPerhaps you should create an Outer Darkness Forum. I said they would not be able to post or start threads. It is meant to be a cruel and humorous joke to find oneself transported there.

Your outlook on life will change forever!I like the idea of focussed live chat but I'm unclear as to how this would proceed. Chats are notoriously difficult to moderate and control, simply because everyone can write at once without knowing what others are writing, and sub-discussions always end up confusing things.

If I have to bounce from forum to forum it will get frustrating for me because I am basically lazy and suffer from A.D.D. in my old age.

The absence of rep points is indicative enough of whatever rep points are supposed to represent. I'm not even entirely keen on the concept of rep points, I think it makes this board even more addictive, like some sort of theological MMORPG.

If it does, then taking back would be possible. Otherwise, it might only be possible while you are still on the page, or until you log out, provided your point-giving is recorded in the session or cookies. That's probably a feature that would need to be hard-coded though.
