Daniel Peterson Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 This might be a good tonic for some of the Saints here who occasionally tire (as I do) of continual carping, murmuring, moaning, mocking, and complaining:http://www.bsmarkham.com/mission/Africa/Aug%2005/aba.html

J Green Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 This might be a good tonic for some of the Saints here who occasionally tire (as I do) of continual carping, murmuring, moaning, mocking, and complaining:http://www.bsmarkham.com/mission/Africa/Aug%2005/aba.htmlToo true:In all of this, I suppose it goes without saying that negative speaking so often flows from negative thinking (Elder Holland)So when are we getting a temple in Ma'adi?

J Green Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Marhaba, ya Yusef! What's a decent fellow like you doing in a place like this?MarhabtaynI'm just an occasional peeper, but somewhere in the mass of negative criticism, the exchanges sometimes bring out intriguing insights. The new Review was full of great stuff.
Bernard Gui Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Elder Badger and his wife (he's the tall guy in front of the bus and she is the shortlady to his right) are personal friends. They told us this story in a fireside when theyreturned home from their mission. Incredible effort by pioneer saints in Africa!!! Who wouldhave dreamed we would see this in our lifetime!!!!!!! Praise be to God.Bernard
urroner Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Now my curiosity has been raised, who is the J Green fellow and why is Doc Dan interested in him?
Daniel Peterson Posted August 10, 2007 Author Posted August 10, 2007 He's the son of the man who served as our first branch president when we lived in Cairo, Egypt. His father, an Arabist, was teaching at the American University there at the time, but has long since come to BYU, where he's just stepped down (I believe) as chairman of the Department of History. Good friends.
Lightbearer Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 This might be a good tonic for some of the Saints here who occasionally tire (as I do) of continual carping, murmuring, moaning, mocking, and complaining:http://www.bsmarkham.com/mission/Africa/Aug%2005/aba.htmlWonderful to see the days of the faithful "pioneers" are not altogether past. Thanks for sharing that Br./Dr. Peterson. It is very inspiring and humbling, I will remember that the next time I complain about the traffic on I-4 to the Orlando Temple.
