2025 Scripture Adjustments

It is wonderful that the Joseph Smith Papers has brought greater clarity to the histories. On the other hand, is it possible for some items in the journals to be mistaken due to imperfect recollections or other errors? Might it be necessary to do cross referencing to improve the accuracy?

I don’t agree with the Zion’s Camp bit. The purpose of the Camp/militia wasn’t to protect the Saints after the state gave them their land back. They might have done that if the state had stepped in but they were also told they might have to fight and take the land by force.

directly related but I really hope that the church produces their own translation of the bible. I think the church's scholars and the purported spiritual gifts and authority that the church has would produce an incredible translation. It would also be great because it could be copyright free and available for free for anyone around the world via any medium. Current Bible copyright laws really suck.

I also noticed how the paragraphs in the General Conference talk transcripts are now numbered.

Regarding the modification to section 111.

"Section 111—Changed “the leaders of the Church were heavily in debt due to their labors
in the ministry” to “the Church and its leaders were heavily in debt due to the construction
of the Kirtland Temple and persecutions in Missouri.” Changed “would be available” to
“might be available.” (This gives more context on what motivated the Church’s leaders
to travel to Salem.)
"

The change in words "would be available" to "might be available" does not agree
with what is actually recorded in the revelation.

"I have [NOT I might have] much treasure in this city for you, for the benefit of Zion,
and many people in this city, whom I will gather out in due time for the benefit of
Zion, through your instrumentality. Therefore, it is expedient that you should form
acquaintance with men in this city, as you shall be led, and as it shall be
[NOT might
be]
given you.  And it shall come to pass in due time that I will give [NOT I might give]
this city into your hands, that you shall have power over it, insomuch that they shall
not discover your secret parts; and its wealth pertaining to gold and silver shall be

[NOT might be] yours.

The quoted text does not necessitate your interpretation.

English is fun.
