Temple Attendance

I read part of a talk by one of the GAs, now can't remember which one.

He listed about 10 blessings that we would receive if we attended the temple at least once a month. It helped motivate me to have my Temple Recommend renewed, as I had not been in over 7 years. I had the Bishop's interview yesterday and am so thrilled to go back to the temple.

I'd really like to find that talk, or the list of blessings to share with and motivate others.

It was very specific about the blessings we would receive by attending at least once per month.

Thanks for your help! 😊

Earlier this year I was asked to give a sacrament meeting talk on the topic of the blessings of the temple, and there are a ton of talks and articles on this topic. I don't recall a specific one that listed 10 blessings, but here are a few talks and articles that might help:

There are others, but this is a good start :)

Thank you all so much for taking the time and effort to help me find these blessings. Unfortunately, I have yet to find the talk I was looking for. It focused on the Saints becoming regular attendees to the Temple. It suggested that is one were to attend at least once a month they would receive these blessings. And he goes on to list them in a bullet format. I recall one of them was an increase of physical health and strength.

Thank you again! I am touched that y'all care to help someone you've never met.

You can try asking at https://www.fairlatterdaysaints.org/contact (we might not say anything if we don’t know as when no one knows we sometimes all wait in hopes someone else knows and will answer and then after a few days the question gets forgotten until someone tries to catch up on old unanswered questions)

or the Church History Librarians at https://chl.libanswers.com/form  (I don’t have a clue if they look up talks, but they have looked up some other stuff for me)

Could you have read the summary or notes of the talk rather than the talk itself?  I find it very hard to believe a leader promised better physical health through temple attendance, but I can imagine someone interpreting a talk that way.  That would also explain why it was in a bullet format.

If you do find it and it does say better physical health, I would love you to post it here.

There exists this thing, encouraging to attend the temple more frequently, though not necessarily attending exactly once a month, it does suggest that regular attendance - especially weekly or more frequent visits - would bring remarkable blessings, including a strengthening of the body and physical health, and there sees to be 10 of them:

  1. Increased personal revelation and insight.
  2. Strengthening of physical and emotional health.
  3. Peace and stability in one’s life.
  4. Greater ability to resist temptation.
  5. Healing of spiritual wounds.
  6. A closer connection to the Savior and a deeper understanding of the Atonement.
  7. Improved relationships with family members and others.
  8. Greater understanding of eternal covenants.
  9. Strengthened ability to endure trials.
  10. A more profound appreciation for the gospel and its teachings.

However my source claimed it's Elder Bednar in Oct 2005, but that is... wrong... I can't get a link of it. The LDS website says that Bednar's Oct 2005 talk was about Missionaries.

Here are supposed quotes:

1. Increased personal revelation and insight:

"When we attend the temple and engage in its sacred ordinances, we will be blessed with personal revelation... The Spirit of the Lord can teach us things that we are not able to learn in any other setting or from any other source."

2. Strengthening of physical and emotional health:

"Temple attendance is a powerful source of strength, peace, and comfort... it will help you to endure the trials of life and provide emotional and spiritual support."

3. Peace and stability in one’s life:

"The temple is a place of refuge from the storm of life. It is a place where you can find peace, stability, and perspective in a world filled with uncertainty."

4. Greater ability to resist temptation:

"The temple is a sanctuary where we can receive divine strength to resist the temptations of the adversary and maintain moral purity."

5. Healing of spiritual wounds:

"In the temple, we receive sacred ordinances that help us heal spiritually and renew our covenants with the Lord. The Spirit of the Lord is there to guide us and strengthen us as we strive to become more like the Savior."

6. A closer connection to the Savior and a deeper understanding of the Atonement:

"In the temple, we are taught about the Savior's Atonement in ways that cannot be fully understood in any other place. The ordinances we receive help us to draw nearer to Him and understand His sacrifice more deeply."

7. Improved relationships with family members and others:

"Regular temple attendance helps us to understand more clearly the eternal significance of family relationships and the importance of covenants we make in the temple."

8. Greater understanding of eternal covenants:

"The temple is the place where we are taught about eternal covenants—covenants that link us to God and to one another, providing a framework for our eternal progression."

9. Strengthened ability to endure trials:

"Temple worship is a vital source of strength, enabling us to endure trials and difficulties with patience, perseverance, and faith."

10. A more profound appreciation for the gospel and its teachings:

"When we regularly attend the temple, our understanding of the gospel becomes more profound, and we gain a greater appreciation for the doctrine of the Atonement and the Plan of Salvation."

-----------------

I was able to pull out a larger quote, part of the whole thing of this misidentified talk.

"I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to be with you today and for the privilege of speaking to you about one of the greatest blessings the Lord has provided in these latter days: the temple."

"Through the Restoration of the gospel, the Lord has revealed many great things that are central to His eternal plan. These restored truths, doctrines, and ordinances are intended to help us become more like our Father in Heaven and His Son, Jesus Christ. One of the most significant of these revelations is the restoration of sacred temples and the invitation to enter them to receive the blessings of the ordinances that are performed therein."

"The temple is the house of the Lord. It is the place where sacred covenants are made, where families are sealed for eternity, and where we can receive personal revelation and spiritual strength. Temples provide a setting for us to worship, learn, and be spiritually nourished. They are the places where we can gain the perspective and power necessary to endure the challenges and trials of life."

"I testify that the Lord has indeed revealed these great things in these latter days and that we are blessed to have the opportunity to be part of this glorious work. As we strive to live worthy of temple blessings, we will find strength, peace, and personal revelation that will help us to endure the trials and challenges of life."

"I would like to emphasize the importance of personal revelation and how it is closely connected to our temple worship. When we attend the temple, we invite the Spirit of the Lord to be with us, and the Spirit will teach us things that we are not able to learn in any other setting. The temple provides a unique and sacred environment where we can receive personal revelation that is essential for our spiritual growth."

"In the temple, we are taught eternal truths and are reminded of our sacred covenants with God. As we participate in the ordinances of the temple, we learn more about our Heavenly Father’s plan for us and about our relationship with Him. We are also reminded of the importance of our relationships with others, especially our families."

"The temple is a place where we can experience peace, comfort, and strength. It is a place where we can seek refuge from the storms of life. In the temple, we can find the perspective we need to understand the challenges we face and to gain strength to endure them. The temple is a sanctuary that provides spiritual nourishment and sustenance."

"As we make the temple a regular part of our lives, we will be blessed with greater understanding of eternal truths. The more frequently we attend the temple, the more we will be able to learn about the gospel and the more deeply we will feel the presence of the Spirit. Regular temple attendance also strengthens our ability to resist the temptations of the adversary."

"One of the most profound blessings of temple worship is the opportunity to participate in ordinances that help us make and renew covenants with God. Through these sacred ordinances, we are reminded of the importance of our commitments to the Lord and of the role that the Savior’s Atonement plays in our lives. The temple ordinances help us to understand more fully the eternal significance of the covenants we make and the promises God has given to us."

"In the temple, we are taught important truths about the Savior’s Atonement. The ordinances of the temple help us to understand more fully what He did for us and what we must do to become more like Him. Through temple worship, we gain a deeper understanding of the Savior’s love for us and of the divine potential that is within each of us."

"One of the greatest blessings of temple worship is the opportunity it provides to strengthen our relationships with our families. As we attend the temple, we are reminded of the eternal nature of family relationships and the blessings of being sealed together for eternity. The temple ordinances provide the framework for the eternal progression of families and offer hope for the future."

"The temple is a place where we can receive strength to endure the trials of life. As we face challenges and difficulties, the temple provides a refuge—a place of comfort, peace, and spiritual strength. The Spirit of the Lord is present in the temple, and as we participate in its ordinances, we are blessed with divine strength to meet the challenges of life with faith and perseverance."

"The temple is a place where we can be reminded of the eternal nature of our covenants. When we participate in the ordinances of the temple, we are reminded of the promises we have made to our Heavenly Father and the covenants we have entered into. These covenants provide the foundation for our spiritual growth and our eternal progression."

"In the temple, we also learn about the importance of service. As we perform baptisms for the dead, we are reminded of the eternal nature of God's plan and of the need to serve others. The temple invites us to serve not only our living family members but also our ancestors and others who have passed on. This service helps to unite families and extends the blessings of the gospel to all of God's children."

"As we make the temple a central part of our lives, we will find that we are able to better understand the gospel and apply its principles more fully. The blessings that come from regular temple worship will strengthen our testimonies and deepen our love for the Savior. Our hearts will be filled with gratitude for the opportunities we have to serve in His work and to receive the blessings of His Atonement."

"The temple is a place where we can receive the strength and guidance we need to endure the challenges of life. As we make temple worship a regular part of our lives, we are blessed with increased perspective, power, and peace. The temple is a sanctuary that helps us focus on what matters most and provides clarity in times of confusion and difficulty."

"In the temple, we are reminded of the eternal nature of God’s plan for us. We are reminded that we are His sons and daughters, with a divine potential to become like Him. The temple helps us to see beyond the temporal challenges and difficulties of life and to understand our place in God’s eternal plan. It strengthens our resolve to live according to His will and to become who He wants us to be."

"As we seek to live the principles and truths taught in the temple, we will experience an increased ability to resist the temptations of the adversary. The Spirit of the Lord will guide and protect us, and we will be strengthened in our efforts to live righteous lives. The temple provides us with the tools and the perspective necessary to overcome the trials of life and to remain faithful to the covenants we have made with God."

"The blessings that come from regular temple worship are not just spiritual in nature; they are also temporal. When we make the temple a central part of our lives, we will find that our relationships with others improve. Our families will be strengthened, and we will experience greater peace and harmony in our homes. As we honor the covenants we make in the temple, we will be blessed with greater ability to fulfill our responsibilities and with greater strength to endure the trials of life."

"As we participate in temple worship, we also increase our understanding of the gospel. We are taught the truths of the plan of salvation in ways that are not available to us in any other setting. Through the ordinances of the temple, we gain a deeper understanding of the Savior’s Atonement and of the significance of the covenants we make with God. The temple provides the opportunity to receive personal revelation that helps us to better understand the gospel and how to apply it in our lives."

"The temple is a place where we can be healed. It is a place where we can experience spiritual renewal and receive the peace that comes from knowing that we are doing the will of the Lord. When we make the temple a priority in our lives, we will find that we are strengthened in ways that we cannot fully comprehend. We will feel the Spirit in greater measure, and our testimonies will be deepened."

"As we attend the temple and participate in its ordinances, we are reminded of the central role that Jesus Christ plays in our lives. The temple is a place where we can come to understand more fully the Atonement of Jesus Christ and its power to heal, redeem, and transform us. The ordinances of the temple help us to draw closer to the Savior and to better understand how to apply His teachings in our lives."

"The temple is also a place where we can experience greater unity with our family members, both those who are living and those who have passed on. The sealing ordinances in the temple bind families together for eternity, and as we participate in these ordinances, we are reminded of the eternal nature of our relationships with our loved ones. Through temple worship, we also come to understand more fully the importance of sharing the gospel with others and helping them to receive the blessings of temple ordinances."

“The great things which God has revealed are available to all who are worthy to receive them. The blessings of the temple are available to all who are worthy to enter. The Lord has made the temple accessible to us, and He invites us to come and partake of the blessings it offers. As we make the temple a central part of our lives, we will experience the peace, strength, and spiritual renewal that come from worshiping in the house of the Lord. And as we do so, we will draw closer to our Heavenly Father, to our Savior Jesus Christ, and to our families.

In the temple, we receive not only the ordinances and covenants that help us progress toward eternal life but also the power and capacity to live righteously. As we are faithful in temple worship, we are endowed with the power to overcome the adversary’s enticements and temptations. The temple, in its beauty and holiness, is a place where we can receive the enabling power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

The blessings of the temple are available to all who are worthy to enter. In the temple, we are reminded of our covenant responsibilities. The ordinances and covenants of the temple are closely related to those of baptism and the priesthood. They help us understand that the divine purpose of the Lord’s plan is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of His children. The temple teaches us that we are part of an eternal family and that the blessings of the Atonement of Jesus Christ can be applied to all of God’s children.”

------

"The temple is the place where we receive the ordinances of salvation, and these ordinances prepare us to return to the presence of our Heavenly Father. It is the house of the Lord, and in it we receive personal instruction, spiritual strength, and divine guidance. As we participate in temple worship, we are taught things which we cannot learn in other places. The Holy Ghost is a teacher in the temple, and the spirit of revelation can flow freely there."

"Our spiritual lives are enhanced by our time in the temple. There we learn who we are, why we are here, and how we can return to the presence of our Heavenly Father. The blessings of the temple are available to all who are worthy to enter, and they will help us to endure with faith and strength the challenges of mortality."

"As we strive to live faithfully and make the temple a central part of our lives, we will experience more fully the love of our Heavenly Father and the power of the Savior’s Atonement. The temple is a place where we can receive divine strength and inspiration to overcome the challenges of life, and it is through our worship there that we can draw closer to both God and our families."

"I testify that the great things which God has revealed are true. The doctrine of the gospel is simple and powerful, and it is accessible to all who are willing to accept it. The Lord has made it possible for us to receive His blessings through the ordinances of the temple, and I invite each of us to make the temple a central part of our lives. As we do so, we will experience peace, strength, and spiritual renewal, and we will be drawn closer to our Heavenly Father and to our Savior, Jesus Christ. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen."

More info please.

There is no more, I just got an A.I. Search bot telling me its Elder Bednar Oct 2005 titled "The Great Things Which God Has Revealed", but that is not it, that is the date and title of President Hinckley's talk The Great Things Which God Has Revealed. The link it gives me is wrong. So, I simply been forcing the bot to feed me paragraphs as quotes from it one at a time, but it just won't give it all to me at once because of copyrights. I don't know if I found it or not. Maybe the A.I. faked it. I can't find it.
