This seems like an important question given that it's still being asked ~2000 years later.

Any thoughts on why Jesus didn't/wouldn't/couldn't answer?

He did later.

“Truth is knowledge of things as they are, and as they were, and as they are to come;
And whatsoever is more or less than this is the spirit of that wicked one who was a liar from the beginning.”
(D&C 93:24-25)

So does the 25th verse make philosophy satanic?

Unfortunately that statement itself is "true" in one context and not true in another.  Surprise surprise!

Yes truth is seeing things "as they are", but unfortunately on this side of the veil we CANNOT see things "as they are":

Emphasis added;

Quote

1 Corinthians 13:12  King James Version

12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

So as I have been saying - "TRUTH" as we know it- is "all in our heads" while we are still hanging around here on this third rock from the sun.

Truth is not "what things look like" because THOSE THINGS are "all in or heads"

Please explain how we can see things without eyes and a brain?   Or make comments here without eyes or ears or a brain?

Yet it seems some people "think" that it is possible.  Perhaps they do not have brains?

But thinking requires a brain here on earth.

So how do we think without a brain"?

Doesn't that describe a significant percentage of internet message board posts? :)

You need to read the rest of DC:93

Quote

31 Behold, here is the agency of man, and here is the condemnation of man; because that which was from the beginning is plainly manifest unto them, and they receive not the light.

32 And every man whose spirit receiveth not the light is under condemnation.

33 For man is spirit. The elements are eternal, and spirit and element, inseparably connected, receive a fulness of joy;

34 And when separated, man cannot receive a fulness of joy.

35 The elements are the tabernacle of God; yea, man is the tabernacle of God, even temples; and whatsoever temple is defiled, God shall destroy that temple.

36 The glory of God is intelligence, or, in other words, light and truth.

37 Light and truth forsake that evil one.

Pilate was asking a rhetorical question. He didn't expect an answer, because he didn't believe there was an answer.
