Hi, I am new.

I just joined this forum, a day ago.

I have never posted anything here ever.

This, in fact is my first post.

"Social Hall" is the only place the system allows me to post in. It does not allow me to pm a moderator or support saying I have "0 messages left for today". And I never have messaged anyone here before!

When I click "Contact Us" link I get a pre-programmed response:

Quote

"This email address is not monitored.

All inquiries asking why you were banned from a topic or the board are ignored. "

So, there is literally no way for me to contact anyone, except to post something here.

What is going on here? Anyone can answer? Thank you.

I'm new too, by like a few weeks. Yes, things are locked up until you have a number of posts, maybe 25 under your belt.  I'm assuming it helps filter robots and chaos agents. It would have been nice to post somewhere what was happening. I, at first, thought my VPN was blocking my browser from using features, but then I realized I can post in the Social Hall, so its not a mistake.

You can post in others’ threads in the other forums, just not start your own. Editing and sending messages to other posters and starting nonSocial threads should occur after 25 posts.

I thought it was mentioned in the guidelines you agreed to when you sign up. Will have to check now.

Added:  Nope, it isn’t.  I will make a suggestion.

Thank you guys! That helps.  As for "chaos agents" that is funny. One of the mod's avatar name is actually Chaos! 🤣

Do people in general walk here on egg shells, or it is pretty open and fair?

Depends on who you ask probably. I talk almost like I usually do.  If I get pissed off, I have to control myself, but I should in most cases anyway, so not a bad thing.  If you follow the guidelines, avoid politics, naturally speak civilly to others and engage in some substantive comments, chances are you will be fine, but some really want to bring politics into it or take it personal and those might feel they have to walk on egg shells.  Being respectful in general is a safe bet.

You need to be careful with sharing details of the temple, no direct quoting unless published in scripture or on the Church’s website.  Topics are pretty open if religion related, politics are out because it inevitably gets nasty.  Sometimes something that touches on politics in a general way that is religion related is okay, it is the party affiliated or conspiracy theory stuff that can get someone banned.  Mods do not read everything or maybe anything unless reported, so if you think someone is breaking rules, report it.  It also appears that mods may not be able to check in every day, so just because a political thread has not been locked for over a day does not mean it is within the rules.

Also good to document claims; you need to provide a link if possible if a quote, at least a reference so others can find it if they want.  Think of the board as a casual semiacademic discussion.  If someone issues a CFR (call for reference), you need to provide it or withdraw the claim.  Some people see that as a way to shut down conversation, but myself and others tend to be truly curious when we do it and want more info about a claim or idea, not always to challenge, often just to learn more.

You can post on the Three Word Story that is pinned on here and accumulate posts fast. Also, tell us a bit about yourself if you're inclined to, it helps to answer why you're worried about walking on eggshells, curious to know why you would say that. I'm inactive in the LDS church but you can't take the Mormon out of me, so this board has members that are nuanced, active true blue Mormons (TBM), apologists, scholars, non believing previous LDS, ex-LDS, Catholic, or other non LDS Christians. People from all over the world post and it's rather an addicting forum, for me anyway. We love new members that want to engage and not just throw out stuff to get our goats.

Welcome! ❤️

Thank you! This sounds like fun! I love reason and logic. I believe they help us to get revelation. I think God is the ultimate scientists.

Well, guys,

5 days and I have been banned from the topic I started

The Fall of Adam, Ancient Lie, and Redemption of Zion

If I don't reply there, now you know why!

Good luck everyone! And thanks for a nice discussion. Truth speaks for itself, no matter who tries to shut it up.

Good bye!

Thread banning a happen to most of us. Unless you were posting or linking to temple content it almost never has to do with doctrinal ideas.

Just broken board rules.

You've seen the thread. I did not post any temple secrets. The problem is they didn't tell me what they deemed the problem to be, so I have no idea.

It would be very helpful (and fair) if they explained. But when I tried to contact them via provided link the auto-reply was:

Quote

"This email address is not monitored.
All inquiries asking why you were banned from a topic or the board are ignored. "

So that's not helpful or even civil. But, alas, private property, they can do whatever they want, I suppose. But the truth speaks for itself.

Cheers.

I'm late to the party, is obehave you?

No. How does that make sense? I disagreed with him on many points.

That would be quite counterproductive to argue with yourself, wouldn't you agree?

You were preaching or so it appeared, especially when you stated  it was so hard to convince.

That is against board rules. This is a discussion board, not a pulpit.

Seen it before in someone using sock puppets. Their version of entertainment apparently.

Ha! I was not preaching. I simply was pointing out how strange it was that I had to convince Christians that transgressing commandments (as in case with Adam) was never a good idea! That is a fair observation.  Perhaps it struck a nerve, because it was too true.  :)

I don't see any point in that. Besides, then anyone can be accused of that without any basis in reality. It becomes a witch hunt. And why? Just because Obehave agreed with me on a point?

(Besides if someone intends to use a "sock poppet", would they not try to avoid a similar sounding name?)

Either way, if that was the reason for the ban, it was not a fair one.

I haven't followed the thread, so have no idea why you were banned.

Yeah, enough judgmental comments like that could get you banned again, with or without the smiley.  A lot will depend I am guessing if you actually engage with anyone else and therefore make for an interesting or just keep repeating your theme, which gets boring and leads posters to be more like to report what they see as board violations.

That is comforting to hear.  If this is true, it means that Jesus Himself would have been banned from this forum. I am in a good company.

Cheers! And all the best.

Jesus has the right to be judgmental because he knows the truth of who people are.

Someone with the more typical limitations of not being a mind reader who has interacted with others for 5 minutes before throwing out judgements right and left…not so much.

That is very uninteresting if someone does; outright boring to be blunt.

Listen to Nehor, he speaks from experience.
