Missed my granddaughter’s graduation, not good.

The day my oldest granddaughter was born, I was in the room. It was a large birthing suite, and despite my attempt to get out, the doctor told me, “too late, you waited too long”. So, I huddled in the corner, covering my ears. She graduated High School a couple of days ago with many honors. I was looking forward to being in attendance, however my evening ended up in the Emergency Room. In fact, I have been in the hospital for three days now, and I still have to remain until (at a minimum) tomorrow, which makes four days.

She has plans to serve a mission, and will be filing her papers in August, and time is moving so quickly. Her Mother served a mission, which tore my heart out when she left. It seems as if it was just a few short years ago since my daughter served, and that was when young women had to be 21 years old to serve. Now, they can serve at 19 years of age, which due to her November birthday, she will be leaving just a few months past her graduation.

She is the oldest of my 7 granddaughters, but these 19 years have gone by so quickly. It is hard to believe that I have two adult grandchildren, a boy (man) 21, and now a girl 19…where does time go?

My oldest granddaughter is graduating too this week and will be going to BYU in August. Not sure about a mission yet.

Baby people can be pushy - in a nice way.  What is it with midwives really wanting dad to cut the cord? Every one of ours wanted that. I never got why but did it anyway to keep them happy.

I'm sorry to hear of your health struggles Pa Pa/Brother Bill.  I hope you can find peace and comfort even amid the difficulties of life.  When I was studying the other day, that's something that hit me:  Recall in John 14:27 where the Savior says, "Peace I leave with you.  My peace I give unto you.  Not as the world giveth give I unto you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

I understand the urge to say, "What, are you kidding?!  I've got all of these problems" or, "The world is going crazy  and/or to you-know-where :diablo: in a handbasket and You want me to not be troubled?  How the heck am I supposed to do that?!! "  And the realization came that in order for the "worldly" to have peace, things have to be going well for them.  If things are going well, then they have peace.  But Christ's peace, by contrast, is different.  Why does He say, "Not as the world giveth give I unto you"?  Because His peace transcends what the world thinks is peace: It is independent of circumstance, so we can have it regardless of what is going on around us.

And that is the Peace I wish for you, from the Prince of Peace.  I know it isn't easy, but, also, I know it is possible.  For what it's worth.

Warm Regards and Best Wishes from a Brother in Christ,

-Ken

P.S.: And I know it's not the same, and I would never suggest that it is, but I'm quite sure that your granddaughter knows you were there in spirit.  :)

Thank you, Ken. Not sure why I thought you should , how I could tell you, not be troubled”, nor do I know how you are supposed to do “that”, but I do hope that for all. Oh, and you are correct, “the world is going to (you know where) in a hand-basket”, such is this life. It was out of boredom, and too much time on my hands in the hospital, I decided to share my “current lot in life”, with my friends here. Or those I hope to be my friends, for the last 15 years, here on this website. As I seek for the wisdom of those who believe me to be their friend. Although, so many from the earlier days have gone, some by choice, others who have sadly passed. I know I am one of the least favorite posters here, but still hope to be (at least) tolerated. Anyway again, thank you for you wisdom, I miss those who once “tolerated” me, but seldom ever respond anymore. I never know what my errors are, as those with whom I once had correspondence with, won’t tell me, or even respond in a PM, and tell me what and why that joy, I no longer enjoy. Such is life, thankfully my family still loves, and tolerates me. My G-d bless you my friend, or at least by brother.

You and the rest of America. Just show up with 10x the rate from 2 years ago and I'll put you in line with the other 400.

Hey, at least you'll put me on the waiting list.  I can't find anyone else who will even do that! ;)
