I then re-read it in the German language while serving -- a practice which helped me greatly in my quest to obtain fluency in the language. It's a good question, however, whether it's a good entry point for LDS Christology. It's definitely thorough (over 700 printed pages) and is pretty much the closest thing to a work with the LDS equivalent to a papal imprimatur, since it was published by the church itself. Talmage wrote it entirely in longhand while sitting in the Salt Lake Temple, and as he finished each chapter it was passed to the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve for their review. I think that a minimal entry point might be The Living Christ, a short declaration about the Church's view of Christ. It is found as a sub-page of the Jesus Christ page on the church's website, HERE. This is where the free, online text of Jesus the Christ is found, along with other items. Perhaps others here might have a better suggestion for a good entry point to LDS Christology. @JLHPROF @Robert F. Smith ?? I'm probably not the one to ask, at least where Talmage is concerned. But I agree that his Jesus the Christ is foundational for current LDS beliefs on Christ. I would recommend "Mediation and Atonement" by President President John Taylor. http://archive.org/download/MediationAndAtonementOfOurLordAndSaviorJesusChrist/mediation_and_atonement.pdf Edited April 11, 2022 by JLHPROF

Thanks!

My memory of your posts is not detailed enough to process that. added: actually I think may have missed this comment…or was too sleepy when I read it. I am guessing I answered it myself, but if more detailed, am interested Edited April 12, 2022 by Calm
Tacenda Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 Don't know if this has been shared, but a run through of how the cross became taboo. https://www.ldsliving.com/what-church-leaders-and-church-history-teach-about-wearing-and-displaying-the-cross/s/10418?fbclid=IwAR1cjx-EKaiws1T5Vo5n9f9sRRnJ4Es_2Nipu57hHSJ8wh-XboNda4GG_1E

A little more than a century ago, there was an effort to put up a giant cross to commemorate the LDS pioneers, and then after WWII there's a current that emphasizes not to place crosses on churches etc.
