I often have questions for the traditional Christian community, but I don’t k ow where to go for answers. Are there any Christian forums anyone recommends? I’ve tried joining a few, but most of the. Had rules that if you were part of a specific faith, you could not participate i the Christian side of things. Mormons were often listed in those lists of such faiths.

There is an active Catholic discord with straight and faithful answers about their faith.

Do you have a link? I think you meant to write discourse, a discussion website?

No.  Discord.

The name is "Catholic Converts".

Anymore a lot of that stuff has moved to discords, when done right it's fantastic.  When not, discord channels can be echo chambers.

I've been on a few, half the reason why I stay here, the people are just that good.  I'm a bit more left leaning, with US politics being what they are the likes of me tend to be despised by many.  It's causing a lot of people to just walk away, so many forums and reddits are just pure angst and political flavored rageposting.

Here's one I like.  Word to the wise, if you do check out Lutheran forums go for the ELCA ones, they play well with others while keeping the smells and bells.

I actually just found a good one I hopped on 👍. The first one that I have seen to allow Latter-day Saints to participate in Christian conversation.

Awesome!  Hope it enriches you.

It irritates me a bit when people who claim to be "traditional" forget the other parts that go with it, among them being the better person while progressing to Christlike perfection, as close as we can get to it anyway.  They're supposed to be the salt of the earth and set an example, not be uppity holier than thou snobs.

curious, have you looked into other resources the more traditional Christians have?  Book of concord, the hours, missals etc.  I'm looking to get a few nice sets when I get the time.  Do you listen to vespers at all?

I have not done any of this and am not familiar with what it is.

That's more of a trad thing, here.

Liturgy of the Hours - Wikipedia

Evangelisch-Lutherische Gebetsbruderschaft - Wikipedia

Vespers in Lutheranism - Wikipedia

That's what's left of the heritage I had from my fathers side, anymore this stuff is scarce here stateside unless you're Catholic.  That's one reason why so many Mainlines have defected to the likes of SSPX and FSSP, traditional Christianity doesn't seem to jive too well with contemporary US culture, it's sad but that's just how people here in general are anymore.  Thinking back to the thread where you and I talked about your time on your mission with folks like this, it's why I can't side with them as much, they really don't help the cause.  Wish you the best of luck, if you have any other questions and its something I can either answer or point you in a good direction I will happily help you out.  For all of our arrogance, many of the US faithful have lost our way, we have much to learn from you and yours.  BTW, you really have a good spot for all that on this site, you just attract us lol.  You have traditional Catholics, Orthodox (who I am about to start learning from hopefully....) and speashul people like me, why do things the hard way?  Let us come to you.

Forgot to add, I'm more of a sit down and read about someones stuff first than ask questions kinda guy, anymore I really try not to put my foot in my mouth if I don't know/don't know enough to properly ask questions.  When I first became curious about the LDS church years ago I listened to the BOM on audio plus read up on church history.  It was tough, there's so much misinformation out there plus lots of ignorant folks who love to run their mouths off, I'm grateful for places like this.  At the very least, they can point me in the right direction.  Anyway, finding stuff can be tough, thank God for youtube and the like.  You might appreciate this, posted Fr. Casey before, I'm a huge fan.

I take the opposite approach. I find a learn more when I put my foot in my mouth. I take a “throw yourself under the bus and see what happens” route. I find a learn a lot more when I speak up, look like an idiot, and am corrected.

I am only flexible enough to get a few toes in my mouth and I find that when I ask people questions while doing that they tend to just stare at me.

Different people, different approach.  Considering your mission wasn't too long ago (Right?) I'm not surprised at all by that statement.  As a missionary, one of your primary jobs is to get converts, that doesn't leave as much room for study, introspection etc.  I am on the opposite end of that one.  Please correct me if I'm wrong here, I'm just the friendly non member with member family.  My understanding is at MTC it's language, missionary tactics, culture lessons etc.  TBH I'm a bit jealous, things like that have to be a huge help in the professional world.

Oh I do a ton of study and introspection. I just find that failure is the biggest teacher and nothing motivates me to change like looking and feeling like a fool haha.

I served between 2014-16. So it was and wasn’t recent… depends on who you ask haha. Your right about the MTC. my time, however, was spent on learning how to be a  missionary. I served in Kentucky and southern Indians.

Just curious - what do you mean by "traditional Christian community?" Then you mention "Christian forums" . . . what does that term mean to you?  It seems to me there are a number of what I would deem "traditional Christians" on this forum, but perhaps I don't understand what you mean by the term. Take care.

Oh ok that's cool.  Yeah, that's different, you do things the smart way.  There's where we're the same then, that's what I do too, I've learned a ton that way.  Being humble helps too.

Thought it was recent, still that wasn't thaaaat long ago.  Southern Indians?  Which nations may I ask?

I just looked at the Christianityboard.com Statement of Faith. Neither I nor most of my Christian friends and acquantances would be allowed to post on it since we are not creedal. Hence I can't agree that board/forum is an inclusive Christian forum. The Statement of Faith is very restrictive. What they define as "the essential core of the faith" is quite restrictive. No Baptist, Pentecostal, Mennonite/Anabaptist, interdenominational group, nor most Evangelicals I know could belong. We are all considered by them to be "outside the realm of reasonable orthodox Christianity." The non-LDS Christian world is broad and diverse. This site, by its own requirements is not.

There are Catholic and Evangelical Christians active on this forum. Are they traditional Christians?

Did you read their statement of faith and their statement about one's status if one doesn't agree with all of their core beliefs? I am not a member there. Perhaps they allow non-orthodox Christians to post while considering them "outside the realm of reasonable Orthodox Christianity?" For example, they require belief in the Apostle's and the Nicene Creed to be considered orthodox Christians.

Perhaps they are talking about Orthodox Christians (Roman Catholics and those from the Orthodox traditions) instead of orthodox Christians - those whose faith is considered within orthodox (not Orthodox) Christianity?

I put Everyone but Latter-day Saints in that title of traditional Christians. There is a very active debate and apology section where they debate all sorts of things including trinitarian beliefs

Thank you for sharing this from Saint Thomas Aquinas seminary. The traditional Catholic liturgy is such a beautiful expression of our love of God and God‘s love of us. The SSPX and FSSP know how to do it justice.

I attend an FSSP parish, but went to an SSPX chapel before the FSSP were invited into the diocese.
