What are people understanding incorrectly, in your opinion? It was deserved snarkiness. The idea that I have a ready-made exacting and precise definition hot off the presses ready to go is silly. There are experts in this field. Just go to the quality places where you have a lot of knowledge nerds collating information. From the first page of results you have Britannica and Wikipedia which both have mechanisms for the correction of incorrect information. They make mistakes but they generally don't last long. I am also confident anything I wrote would be ignored or someone would pick one persnickety detail I was vague on or something and declare victory. Not my first rodeo. If reading a wikipedia page is too much to ask I don't know what to tell people. Maybe they don't care which is fine. If they want to criticize a theory though they need to understand it. Why would I waste time arguing with someone who doesn't understand a theory at all but is convinced it is falsified because someone else who doesn't understand it says it is? Better to just outright say they are wrong and move on. There are no points in contention to discuss.
