Hah.  I was uncomfortable with the rabbit story.  How do you think researchers measured arterial occlusion in the 1960s?  Love?

First:  I recognize that what impresses me, will not impress all.  I’m glad we’re given an opportunity to hear many different voices during conferences.  I think it increases the chance for teaching and growth.

Second:  I don’t think I understand your question about the 1960’s.  Perhaps it was something Elder Stevenson said that I missed.  Could you explain a bit?

I think he's referring to how they probably ended up having to kill the bunnies to complete the study.

Doh!!!  I see.  Sometimes I’m quicker on the uptake.

Not that it changes anything, but this research seems to have been done in 1978.  So I wasn’t  sure what the connection to the 1960s was?

At the end of the day, I do understand how the way the information was likely gathered contradicts the message.

Thanks for the explanation and patience.

I loved Elder Stevenson’s message, especially how he explained the  “Rabbit Effect” “https://www.nyjournalofbooks.com/book-review/rabbit-effect

I want to learn how to show love and kindness in all that I do.

Yet another instance of how science denies the reality of emotion and by seeing the world as purely physical misses the whole boat.

This is so true! Elder Stevenson's talk was my favorite probably because I've raised 1000s of rabbits over the past 40 years😀. I had never heard of the rabbit effect until his talk, but I can back up what he's talking about, it's definitely true. My rabbits that I personally raise are nowhere near as healthy as my daughter's rabbits. I don't get attached to my rabbits because I'm the only one that "harvest" rabbits in our family right now. The older I get the harder it is to butcher animals, especially ones that I've grown to like, so i choose not to form a bond with the rabbits.  On harvesting day, we can see a considerable difference in fat deposits throughout the body when comparing my rabbits to my daughters. Just like elder Stevenson pointed out, the only real difference between my meat rabbits and my daughter's is the fact that she spends more time with her rabbits, they're friendly and more tame than mine, definitely less stressed and it shows in the final product, the meat. My rabbits have fat deposits throughout so I have to spend more time removing fat, rabbit fat doesn't taste that good. But my daughter's rabbits are definitely more healthy with probably half the fat deposits.                    Mark Twain said "kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see." I agree with you, science denies the reality of emotion.

Here's one of my daughter's rabbits we just sold, doesn't it look yummy😂

It depends on who in science.  I found the book The Rabbit Effect after conference and am reading it.  There are some scientists really look into these kind of things.

Just read this part and loved it:

"Studies show that when a person holds the hand of a loved one in distress, the breath and heartbeat of the pair sync up. Their bodies harmonize. Most amazing is that their brainwaves harmonize as well, which is known as entrainment. One study looked at twenty-two couples wearing brain wave monitors, or electroencephalography (EEG) caps, where one partner had heat placed on her arm for two minutes. Researchers found that the more empathetic her partner felt to her pain, the more in sync their brain waves. Additionally, the more synchronized the brain waves, the less pain she reported. Even being in the same room together but not touching, there was some “brain-to-brain” synchronization.30 Similar to fireflies flashing in concert on a summer night.31 A study in Nature’s Scientific Reports shows when two people are talking and listening to each other, their brain oscillations synchronize beyond auditory processing alone.32 They actually get on the same wavelength. Humans are emotionally and biologically connected in ways we don’t fully understand, and touch is a key part of this."

I can't wait for my husband to get home because there is so much to discuss just in this paragraph!
