Today I read a thread about these links on a FB Mormon Stories group that will most likely reach my sons who both resigned recently. They share these with their believing friends occasionally, two of these friends recently went on a golf trip with my sons and one of my sons shared a Mormon Stories podcast with both. I just thought I would share the Fair Mormon or apologist's input if my sons share it on FB or ?. I tell my sons all the time to not share these things because I know the friends stalwart families. Both the friends are married and their wives would be devastated if they quit belief. My sons didn't get information from me, they found it on their own. I kept my beliefs silent for years. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if I understand you correctly, you are simply looking for an answer from a faithful LDS point of view that handles or explains the claims of that website. I believe the First Vision podcast link I posted above from the church website explains why the claims of the critics in this particular case don't make any sense, although perhaps not in a detailed way that one might prefer. I think a lot of the claims made by critics have an impact on us only if we view the information from our modern point of view without considering the historical context and what would be a "normal" thing to expect from someone who actually lived in that place and time. And if you or I grew up in that religious environment and "attended their several meetings as often as occasion would permit" (as Joseph put it), we'd be exposed to that kind of talk all the time and it would be a natural thing for us to say similar things if we had our own spiritual experience. 3

This was not a claim made by church leaders. No issue, just wondered if there was a Fair Mormon response. But I got enough information here. Each time my son brings things up I become an amateur apologist, which is pretty funny considering.

To answer your question, rarely is the first time a critic raises an issue the first time the issue has been raised. To be perfectly honest, and perfectly fair to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and its apologists, such issues tend to be recycled. Even if there isn't a specific apologetic response to a particular issue as that issue was raised by a particular critic, that doesn't mean that there is no apologetic response to that issue. Each time he brings up an issue that you respond to with the correct understanding you become an even better amateur apologist, I think you meant. You're probably up to at least a level 3 amateur apologist by now, I think.

Carl died and then he saw more people like us. Do you think that was enough for Carl to realize that we are God? I doubt it but most atheist believe we are worm chow when we die so it was probably a good start.
