Derl Sanderson Posted July 19, 2020 Posted July 19, 2020 When I look at how I've organized some of my files, I think I exemplify the Southern phrase "if dumb was dirt, he'd cover about a acre." Over the years, whenever I came across an internet essay or paper that I thought interesting/useful, I'd copy the link along with a short description into a simple text file, name it, and file it away. Unfortunately, I now find myself with a WHOLE LOT of text files referencing articles on the Maxwell Institute site that have now been moved to the BYU Scholars Archive site. I have no idea how to cross-reference these. For example, I have a text file that says "Matt Roper on BOM Geography." Then the link: http://publications.maxwellinstitute.byu.edu/fullscreen/?pub=1467&index=3. Can I find where that has been moved or am I pretty much screwed?

That may be a pain to go through them all, but you might have some luck. I had this same sort of thought last week when I was linking to some recipes. I had the advantage though of having 2 blogs that I likely won't have forever and have thought about what I want to do with the content should I stop paying for the domain. This is the way the Maxwell Institute home page looked in November 2015: https://web.archive.org/web/20151112163812/http://publications.maxwellinstitute.byu.edu/ And if I use your specific URL and paste it into the internet archive site, I get this: https://web.archive.org/web/20150813105719/http://publications.maxwellinstitute.byu.edu/fullscreen/?pub=1467&index=3 At the very least you could get more specifics on those articles and then use it to help you find the modern day counterparts. The saying is true, "The Internet is Forever". Calm Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 (edited) Most of the papers have been moved to scholarsarchive@byu.edu iirc (not sure about the ending). Because Maxwell has moved and broken links multiple times, I believe BookofMormonCentral has duplicated them quite a bit, but not sure of just limited to BoM topics. Sipposedly this is the absolute final move for Maxwell. Scholars Archive is supposed to be the university’s database for articles, etc or something iirc. Been awhile since I read the announcement.
