Any word on any changes that might be coming out in the new handbook release this week?

It will have a disclaimer, "USE AT YOUR OWN RISK".

My guess is that that 13 new chapters  are about the recent administrative changes in how the church is run. "home driven, church supported.

Lots of anxiety on social media about this. Lots of rumors of the Church "doubling down" on more controversial doctrine. I guess we will see in a few hours!

Meaning going even tougher?  Seems unlikely.

Can you give just the general topics of more controversial doctrine?

And while the Handbook is, if I understand correctly, supposed to be founded on doctrine, it is a policy handbook, not a doctrinal one, so why the big deal about doctrine?

And considering as how 80% of the handbook is going to remain unchanged (just reorganized and consolidated into a single volume), I'm not sure how much doubling down could actually take place within the 9 chapters which are being updated to match the new tone.

You are correct. My guess is tougher. No one would give specifics but did mention getting tougher on transgender and possibly LGBT issues.

Hmm...I think the existing guidelines regarding transgender issues are pretty clear.

As such, I suspect by 'double down' they really mean 'expanded to cover situations previously not specifically addressed in a manner which is consistent with an interpretation of doctrine they happen to disagree with.'
