On my other message board where I have been for about 20 years it was once a pretty much unknown thing except for those from Utah. It has steadily grown to other restaurants, though with different variations. Yes, fry sauce was a thing when I was in high school in northern wyoming-that stuff is yummy. I remember they would always run out of it at the MTC. JCW and Five Guys have really good fry sauce. I don't remember anything about Smash Burger's, but I've only eaten there once.

Bob's Big Boy had two layer burgers with thousand island dressing on them in the early 60s. Basically as far as I could tell thousand island dressing is exactly what fry sauce is. And then of course the Big Mac copied that. Ketchup mayonnaise and a little relish. No biggie. http://bobs.net/ No, fry sauce is just ketchup and mayo mixed together, no relish. Thousand Island is close, but it also has pickle relish, garlic, onions, and some vinegar in it. 1

They do seem to be everywhere in certain regions (i.e., east coast), so maybe the convenience thing is a draw for some. We've only got one in my town, but from where I live I can't get to it without passing at least four other places that sell better donuts, so it's a complete non-starter as far as I'm concerned. Quote And don't get me started on the In 'n Out debate. Personally, I think it is a good burger joint...not a great burger joint, but when comparing scale, it is one of the better chain burgers. Agree to disagree. The burgers are meh. The "secret menu" is dumb. And, hands down, they serve the worst fries in the industry. Hard pass. Quote Their customer service, IMO, is what sets them apart from most of the competition. I've been a few times and never been particularly impressed. If you want to see what good customer service from a fast food chain really looks like, I've got three words for you: EAT MOR CHIKIN! Quote For my $, the best burger chain is The Habit, and the best coffee chain is Peet's. For true fast food burgers, I would probably have to go with Whataburger. For coffee, well, you've got me on that one. 1

What is with the "secret menu" my husband went recently and couldn't remember what he was supposed to order off menu and was not a fan of what he did order? Seems really gimmicky if the best item on the menu isn't on the menu. Edited September 26, 2018 by Calm

It's kind of like a starburst. Very tasty.

My wife's sister worked for them when she moved to Arizona with us. Way better than Jamba. Then, when the Jamba owners bought it out, they installed a bunch of corporate cost-saving/profit-maximization measures. Ingredients are carefully measured and controlled. It became a night and day difference working for Jamba when she had worked for Zuka, and the product wasn't as good. That said, Jamba is still pretty good. Caribbean Passion is my favorite, but I tried a seasonal pumpkin one that was really good. 1

I suppose being knowledgeable of the so-called secret menu is supposed to make you feel like you have some kind of special, hidden, super-secret inside knowledge...or something. However, no amount of knowledge will change the fact that they are simply incapable of putting onion rings on your burger. And what freedom loving American wants to eat at a place where that isn't even an option? 1

There is a Tex-Mex place around here that has a creamy jalapeno ranch sauce which, I believe, used to (and, technically, might still not be) listed on their menu. It's a pretty good dipping sauce to go with your tortilla chips though, and it's a good way to mix things up when you don't want to stick with just salsa. 1

Rain Posted September 27, 2018 Posted September 27, 2018 The timing of the emphasis on the church name is proving interesting on my other board. Those who have left are equating the name "change" with wanting to distance from being known as a predictor church now with all the Sam Young stuff.

At Apollo Burger in Utah you can get them if you order the Texas Bacon Cheeseburger (which I order every time I go there.) In N Out does offer grilled onions, which is almost as good as onion rings IMHO. The things I like about In N Out are the toasted bun, fresh lettuce and tomato and the grilled onions. The staff is always friendly and it is also fairly inexpensive compared to the other options. The fries are below average. Edited September 27, 2018 by Oliblish 1

That board has a huge variety of topics. We used to have some good discussions about the church. In fact, I was able to teach the gospel enough that 2 people were baptized - and one of them is a friend of mine still years later. But one of the members left the church and has become toxic. Several others left as well and took her lead on the board. You cannot have a discussion about the chutch without them overrunning the thread and making it completely contentious. There are topics completely separate from the church where she will come through and throw out a snide remark. So those of us who are active have found it is worse to participate in those threads. We just try to be positive influences on the board elsewhere. 2
phaedrus ut Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 Become.org and worshipwithus.org are domains of the LDS church. Daniel Woodruff, church spokesperson, confirmed the domains and said "We are regularly testing different formats, content and names. We began testing several new URLs in the last few weeks including Become.org." Phaedrus 2
