JLHPROF Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 Apparently the judge saw no purpose in costing taxpayers for 5 years prison time since it wouldn't be a deterrent and they would continue to practice polygamy once released.
Anijen Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 I have no clue about the case. However, if the polygamy was part of their religious beliefs I think anything punitive is too much. Just my opinion.

I’m not sure I get your point, but the cost of single mothers on welfare has to dwarf the amount of bucks that could be collected in income taxes from such folks if they were married.
