Moderators - a list of things which will cause a 403 error would be helpful. 1
Calm Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 (edited) Tip: splitting quote boxes.... Use quote function to quote entire post. Then put your cursor where you want the split. It needs to be at the end of a paragraph, so hit return twice if middle of a line or paragraph. Then place the cursor at the new end (do not just backspace) and hit return two or three times until it splits off the following section into a new quote box. When you have isolated the parts you want to quote, you can backspace delete any unwanted quote boxes. Edited July 17, 2018 by Calm

I had a post that kept getting 403ed yesterday. I ended up opening up to edit one of my old comments and just slowly cut and pasted the comment I was attempting to post into the old comment. Everything worked. It's really annoying though as there's no indication of why you're being blocked. In my case it doesn't appear to have been any particular text.

Probably the cost of keeping costs down and not customizing the board, but using a one size fits all censorship program that is included with the package...or so it was for ezboard.

Yeah, I ran a board for awhile, and I believe I could set censorship on words in it. Customizations like that are normally free, and part of normal upkeep, I believe. Seems like it could be done here, although I have been evaluating the software the board uses (InVision), and so far haven't found a place to set things like this. On the demo site InVision provided, when I posted something that had Charles D i c kens in it, I did not get ****. So it seems to me that it is something that they could change. Oh well.

I am positive there are no banned words in the post. From my own experience.... Sexual references (as in heterosexual, gay, etc) can be banned if you repeat the words often. So a few times, no banning; more than that, blocked. It is possible medical terms do that as well, though that hasn't happen to me, one reference to a brand name of a drug will get a block. Order of words may trigger it as well, the censor doesn't read context or commas. Gambling references may get the 403 response too. You could try posting part of the post and then editing additional parts until it triggers the 403 response. That narrows down what you have to pay attention to. Edited August 24, 2018 by Calm 1
