I have seen that applied to some pretty mild forms of feminism described that way to imply it is always 'in your face'. So specific labels or defining what beliefs are held are better, imo.

Original feminism, and then two or three "waves" of feminism afterwards, along with all their subsects... Let's see, which one should I mention to cover the relevant bases? Or would "rampant" work as an adjective for those kinds of feminism that isn't merely interested in equal rights, but want progressively more radical and virtually insane things? It's almost worse than competing Christian churches. I'd be happy if feminism just confined itself to advocating for equal protection under the law for both men and women. But it doesn't.

Seems counterproductive to keep using it if you want to be understood. If you aren't willing to put in the effort to be clearly understood after being told (multiple times iirc) what people find confusing in your posts, then you shouldn't be shocked when you get criticized for something you may not have meant. It is your choice, no big deal if you don't want to take the time because it can take a lot of time and effort. But complaining when misunderstanding then happens, that seems out of place to me. By you, dear Calm, and Juliann. Juliann only said something about how feminism could make positive inroads on bad things. She didn't respond to what I said in response. Perhaps because I made it clear enough that I was talking about extreme, or what I called "rampant" feminism. Or else she decided I was too much of a Neanderthal to make it worthwhile conversing with on the subject. I would bet on the latter, actually. Okay, so you want me to get more specific, possibly using common "industry" terms. Fair enough. Let's say that I find "Mainstream Feminism" to be just peachy keen. I guess that would include First-wave and Second-wave Feminism. And those two waves have, to my way of thinking, accomplished what was necessary in the Western European and North American democracies to put women on a substantially equal footing with respect to men, under the rule of law. With some tweaks and corrections where it might be necessary; after all, Rome wasn't built in a day, as it were. What goes beyond that, however, is where we run into problematic territory, when trying to distinguish things. And here we find Third and Fourth-wave feminism, in all their varieties! Internationally there are these: Anarchofeminism Black and womanist Cultural feminism Ecofeminism French -- yes, the French have a style of feminism all their own Liberal Libertarian Multiracial Poststructural Postcolonial Radical Separatist and Lesbian Socialist and Marxist Standpoint Third-world Transfeminism And in the US we have some other particular varieties, based along racial lines: Asian-American; Chicana; and Native American feminism. Yes, all these are different "sub-waves" of Third and Fourth-wave feminism, and I'm waiting with bated breath because I'm sure Fifth-wave Feminism is just about to break forth in all its glory. Now, I ask you, how do you want me to describe the feminism that I consider to be not good? I can't use the word "rampant" -- it's not exact enough, apparently. I can't use the word "radical", because that's a distinct species of feminism. So I'm up a creek without a paddle, with no way to refer to any of it as a group, because "rampant" or "extreme" are too vague, and some benighted souls call all feminism "extreme" or "rampant".
