Bill “Papa” Lee Posted April 8, 2018 Posted April 8, 2018 More so that the last two Presidency changes, or restuctures, the speed with which President Nelson's, (changes, or revealation) would make any Church Historian dizzy. The death of the last two Prophets, or Presidents, brought little change right away, as both President Hinckly, and President Monson, were already long time members of the Fisrt Presidency. This time, there have been so many deaths, the moves and callings have happened quickly. Also, the two before mentioned Presidents, had years to influence change. No matter how healthy President Nelson feels, his age will mean a shorter call than most. I am however on board with changes he has made, but they do seem to be coming quickly. So, I have wondered, are these changes a reflection of Preisident Nelson, moving quickly, and just in the last year causing him to know that he would end up as President. In short, are all changes (these and others) just "change for the sake of change", or needed changes to a growing Church, or Prophetic revelations? I have often run afoul, with those who believe every change in policy or procedure, is a "Moses at the burning bush", kind of change, as I view many as just as administration changes, or simple optics. I am indeed a believer, and believe that those, "burning bush" moment can and do take place, I just wonder if there is a difference, or does it matter. So, I thought I would bring the question here, to see how any of you feel.

Was President Monson passed I'm sure he prayed about what he had been thinking about and got confirmations for the items which turned into the changes we have today. I would not be surprised to see more coming. I know many in the church have revealed to them what callings they will have in the future. I knew a bishop who knew 2 or 3 months ahead of time that he would be called to be Bishop. He had mentally already picked out his counselors by the time he was actually called. I am sure that in the office of prophet that is far more common. 1
The Nehor Posted April 8, 2018 Posted April 8, 2018 Both of these major changes were being considered by the Apostles for a few years under President Monson. 2
Duncan Posted April 8, 2018 Posted April 8, 2018 I'd imagine Pres. Nelson is realistic about his health and made changes while he had the opportunity, because who knows what 6 months from now might bring.

I imagine that the apostles had discussed these changes before but felt the timing wasn't right with President Monson's health. 2

Well the news about "ministering" I think was clearly President Monson's idea and was actually enacted just before his death, if I have it right.

Stargazer Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 I've observed the Spirit of the Lord guiding this church more than once. Such as men who knew that a leadership calling was coming to them, including myself once, and there was one time when I knew in advance who our new ward bishop was going to be, and not by espionage, but by the testimony of the Spirit. I cannot believe that this change from home/visiting teaching to ministering is anything other than inspired, and a change which can and will lead to better outcomes in our charge to watch out for our brothers and sisters in the gospel. We do not need a prophet to say, every time, "Thus saith the Lord." Because it is not meet that the Lord command in all things. But I am certain that the Holy Spirit is guiding the progress of this church. There is not the slightest doubt in my mind that this change is what the Lord wants. I have had a sure witness that it is right. As for the rest of you? Well, you are responsible for yourselves. Choose well.
