Elizabeth Smart Is a Servant of the Lord to Many

Elizabeth Smart’s due diligence never ceases to amaze me as to how much good it is doing in the world. She truly is an inspiration.

Since her rescue, I’ve followed Smart’s story with a keen interest. Despite our vastly different experiences, I viewed her as a kindred spirit: we walked out of the pits of hell at exactly the same moment in time.

In a time when sexual assault and harassment is center stage in the United States, Smart provides an inspiring example of how a victim of the worst possible abuse can and has turned lemons into lemonade. She explains at the end of the two-hour special that she simply “chose joy.”

After my mother’s death, after that initial dark period (which lasted two years, let’s be real), I too decided to choose joy. And then, a few months after the cloud started to lift, my father committed suicide. And yet, even after that, I still chose joy.

What Elizabeth Smart’s Story Taught Me About Resilience

The movie she helped make will air tonight on Lifetime. That's the who, what, where, how and why you need to watch. :P

Yeah...now I have something to look forward to.

I worked in a group home to pay my way through college and they loved Lifetime movies. Why would I voluntarily endure one again? Except for the Will Ferrel spoof one.....that one was okay.

I don't watch Lifetime at all, but will for this. Especially if Elizabeth approved the movie about her life. Although, it is depressing seeing that bats#!t crazy couple who abused her on t.v. I just hope it shows her putting them away for life and her triumphing over the devils.

You sound like my son and his wife. They only watch on a computer, no t.v.!!

I don't either anymore..watch lifetime...I am on Netflix all the time and can get it on my big screen.  I should just get rid of all the extra stuff I pay for on Comcast and just watch on computer anyway...the cost is redic!  But if there is something I want to see...I don't care what channel it is.  Best to you Tacenda!!

My wife has been watching what looks like a French school in Turkey. I even got into watching a couple of episodes before I got my fill. :)

I don't think so, I will never watch this movie..To make it even what I suffered I'd have one of those medieval inquisition chambers him in it carry out the torture half hour at least every day in his life.....

Watching now. I understand and probably will have a tough time watching parts.

Watched it. As horrible an experience it was for her and her family, it exposes the way people can behave and the extent of sin ,if not unchecked, humans are capable when one listens to false teachers of any type.

Also hearing her comments interspersed with the story makes it more understandable why she couldn't or didn't speak out when she had many chances too. Must have been a very terrorizing experience (as she said).

I was terrible and fell asleep through parts, just super tired. I like that she commented in person too. I'll bet it was such a relief to get her story told accurately and the why of what she did and how she handled her captors. I love the part where there was a cup of water by her bed that appeared out of nowhere and she said was a miracle because they were out of water or she wasn't able to get any and she drank it while the creeps were asleep. She is a very smart lady, and she very well had been able to keep her family out of danger by going along because in the movie it does show that the sickening Brian had connections to some shady characters that were probably stupid/evil enough to follow through.
