They lament as the excruciating pain finally gives way to the sweet oblivion of death. I just realized I might be a disturbed individual. Maybe. And yeah, maybe. And I think the burning will be a good thing, like a refiner's fire, so not so very terribly bad, really, in the final analysis.

Golden plates, hidden in New York where a boy is told to retrieve them and then rather than translating them, puts his head in a hat and looks at a rock. Later goes on to marry other men's wives and 14 year old girls. Claims some scrolls are written by the hand of Abraham himself and gives a translation that doesn't even resemble any of the scrolls that are newer than anything Abraham could have written. If that isn't enough of a deterrent, the church has racist policies and policies against the children of gay couples that just don't seem very Christ-like. Yeah, as a strategy to become the vehicle to find our way back to God, He pretty much threw a whole bunch of stuff to make it a pretty difficult story to swallow. You guys definitely have your work cut out for you. If it were easy it would not be half as fun.

At our current direction we'll continue to be less and less of a presence/force/number in the world), I'm curious what people think of our oft repeated quotation of the prophecy in Daniel and/or more accurately in D&C 65: There is no reason to interpret this prophecy to include the 1000 year period after Christ comes. Given that the prophecy itself does not give a time limit, one can not look at a 10 or 20 year sampling and make any determinations of anything. One way the Church can fill the whole earth is for lots of conversions. Another way is that a large portion of the wicked are destroyed making the ratio of Church members to the world population as a whole to be much different than it is now.

No, but it does mean that the logical, the smart, the knowledgeable, the clever, and the like have no advantage over others in finding the gospel. At best logic and reason can make the gospel plausible but, at least for now, it will not prove it. God wants something else.
