Suppose we find out that there really are alien visitors a la " the greys " and the several other ' species ' that witnesses have spoken of. Suppose they are welcomed to our society formally by world leaders. What implication does it have to LDS doctrine ? We have been taught that there are other worlds populated by God's children , but if they come here and interact do we seek their salvation? I have always been under the impression that the only beings to come here are those assigned here. Ya, it's one of those nights !

The idea I'm about to present has a lot of holes. I'll freely admit there are aspects of it that don't square well with known LDS doctrine. We know from scripture that unembodied spirits among Satan's Minions were so eager to inhabit bodies that, when Christ cast a whole legion of them out of two men, the demons requested to be cast into a herd of swine, instead, and that when that request was granted, they promptly ran the whole herd off of a cliff and into the sea. (See Matthew 8:28-32.) What if they also inhabit alien bodies? Yes, yes: I know; the biggest hole in my theory is, "Where did alien bodies come from?" Et cetera, et cetera. But there you go. "I think that's the whole problem with aliens; you just can't trust them.You may get some nice ones occasionally like Starman or E.T., but most of them turn out tobe some kind of lizard."(Ghostbusters 2) Any intelligent aliens that are determined to be more of God's children are just as in need of salvation as we are. Christ's atonement performed here on earth is effective for all mortals in the universe.I don't think aliens coming here is ever likely to happen though; unless they are able to travel faster than light speed.

Hello strappinglad...Sometimes I like to think about what other peoples might be "out there" because I don't believe for one minute that we are the only life forms in this vast universe/space... in fact it can boggle the mind if one thinks about how far space goes... And I do believe that there surely must be others who are more advanced that we are... some that are less advanced... In the last few of decades there have been numerous books, articles, tabloids, movies, personal stories, etc etc etc about alien visitors. By far the great majority of these are bogus... but... there is one account that is not so easy to dismiss and that is the story of Betty and Barney Hill, told in their book "Interrupted Journey." They both had begun having dreams, even nightmares, about their encounter... so they went to the doctor and he put them in contact with other doctors who used hypnosis to access the Hills subconscious and their story. It was not sensationalized in the sense that most encounters are, as in the tabloids, etc. Rather, Betty told of talking with the apparent leader of the group when they were taken aboard their spacecraft. They communicated mainly through thoughts. She told about being examined, and little details were very real, like the aliens were fascinated by Barney's teeth coming out but not hers... the hair on their arms and other places... The leader seemed very kind and understanding about her questions. Although nervous, she ceased to be afraid... she asked if she could take something back with her and the leader gave her some printed pages in their language. This caused an argument between him and some of the others and so he took the pages back. But, under hypnosis, Betty drew a map that she had seen hanging on the wall... when she questioned the leader about it, she was told that the dotted lines represented their exploraton trips... the solid lines represented their trade routes... the leader pointed out our planet on one of the exploratory routes... For years Betty's map remained confusing... but with the enhanced telescope technology, our scientists were able to place her map on a grid of our planetary knowledge and discoveries...Now I can just hear many of the posters here laughing their heads off... that's okay... the reason I can give this any credence at all is because of the two Hills' case studies with the doctors, and the possibility that it could be true... and it's really the only account that has given me pause... It's a good read... "Interrupted Journey." by Betty Hill. I haven't paid attention to it in years, so don't know any info since... but, as I said, I csnnot believe that we are the only life forms (human/animals) as I look up into the night sky at the vast expanse...
