Rivers Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 (edited) I'm watching the news right now and they are talking about this ISIS group and all the menace they are causing in the world. Does this remind anybody else of the Gadianton robbers in the Book of Mormon? Edited February 25, 2015 by Rivers 1
ERayR Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 I'm watching the news right now and they are talking about this ISIS group and all the menace they are causing in the world. Does this remind anybody else of the Gadianton robbers in the Book of Mormon? Yes but so does about 2/3 of the worlds politicians and the military industrial complex for starters.
thesometimesaint Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 (edited) Not really. The Gadiantons subverted the government from within. They changed the laws to suit themselves. ISIS wants to overthrow the government from without by armed force and intimidation. The closest parallel would be the American South in the US Civil War. Rivers Posted February 26, 2015 Author Posted February 26, 2015 Not all the time. 3 Nephi for example was differentYeah. I was thinking about 3rd Nephi where it talks about them "infesting the land."
The Nehor Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 A little bit. If they are the Gadiantons in 3 Nephi though we are not following the example of the Book of Mormon.
rodheadlee Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 The Gaddiantons would be the drug cartels in Mexico. Isis is Satan's army. 1
DarkScythe Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 The Gadiantons would be the drug cartels in Mexico. Isis is Satan's army. both of them are branches of Satan's armies. both of them are evil.
TheHoneyBadger Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 To me, examples of modern Gadiantons are Harry Reid, John Huntsman and, to a lesser extent, Orrin Hatch Do not turn threads into political statements or debates. This can result in removal from the thread.
thesometimesaint Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 To me, examples of modern Gadiantons are Harry Reid, John Huntsman and, to a lesser extent, Orrin Hatch While I disagree that those are examples of modern day Gadiation's. There are plenty of others.

The Nehor Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 both of them are branches of Satan's armies. both of them are evil. Actually pretty much everyone is evil.
