Who In The Church Are Paid?

Why does that matter?

Because we're all a part of this church.  President Hinckley said that the financial information belongs to us as tithe-paying members (2002 interview with a reporter from Germany).  Elder Bednar said that he wished we could all see how the temporal affairs of the church are handled (Oct 2013 GC).

rockpond, are you serious? If I put down $40 in humanitarian aid, the church can choose to use that $40 in a different way if they please? That's messed up man.

Yes.

Who is "the Church"?

The bride of Christ.

VGJ -- Be aware that the Church does not have to use the funds in the category to which they are donated.  They may use them as they please (see the tithing slip).

That proviso was necessary to protect the donations as charitable giving for tax purposes. It is not an admission that any funds anywhere at any time were moved between categories.

They can. They won't.

So you are trying to use quotes from the Brethren who decide whether to disclose the financial reports as support that they should be disclosed? Are you trying to argue that they are schizophrenic?

My understanding is that all 15 would need to come to a consensus.

So they are fighting over it. So they either need the prophet to get a revelation or for the old holdouts against open financials to die? Neat.

Pity about the schizophrenia thing...might have made for a fun discussion.

I'm not sure if they are fighting over it.  Just not in agreement.

Then CFR that the Church won't use funds outside of the "donated category". Their own statement allows them to do it.

The statement does and it was out in for legal reasons to protect the donors.

As to the CFR I will reference myself and the Holy Ghost.

It is legal language REQUIRED in multiple countries and in the US.  The Church used to publish different forms for all the different type of required 'legal language' all over the world.  When the form was updated, it included language so the form could be used in all like-language countries it is used in.

Rules, at least in the U.S. state that a DONOR cannot direct the use of money that is given, otherwise it is seen as 'benefiting' the individual and would cancel out the charitable contribution.  So while the Church will use the money as it is donated, they printed statement must include the language to qualify as an official charity.

Sorry, that doesn't count.

A God and a potential God is not good enough for you. I am beginning to suspect it is impossible to satisfy a CFR from you.

And a third witness joins me, another potential God. Will you demand still more and tempt your Gods?

You're funny.  Will you then accept all statements that I feel have been personally witnessed to me by the Holy Ghost?

But we do not know that the church doesn't move those funds around once received.  A good reason to provide financial disclosure.

No, because I suspect you may be one of those godless heathen satanist jello despisers. That does not apply to me.
