I read this in a likely less than credible source, but I wondered if anyone else has heard of these plates and has the 'ins' of what might be true about them if anything.  If yes, what are the implications for Bible or Book of Mormon history, if anything?

FWIW, the majority of popular news stories that end up being fabrication come from this website. it mixes in enough real news with its fake, to get credibility for the fake stories. there's a buzzfeed article on it, but i cant find it, sorry

If they're real, it pretty much proves the BOM beyond a reasonable doubt.

These forgeries were discussed on this board some time ago. Scholars given them no credence.

So Kevin C shares a Margeret Barker article supporting them (I think, I've not read the entire article in detail, but her conclusion seems supportive)... But you're saying they're conclusively fraudulent??

Conclusively. See my link above for more information on the codices, and more scholarly analysis, than you will find anywhere else on the internet.

There's some ridiculously offensive language in that blog. It provides no sources for claiming DM's stories are lies, only expletive laden tirades. It links to a story on the DM website and then says "it's a lie" with no evidence.

As much as it pains me to defend the Daily Mail you're still saying unsupported nonsense.

In the UK, The Daily mail is seen as something of a rag.

I'm not saying that, I'm just saying that the DM didn't necessarily know it was a hoax when they published this in 2011. They publish news, not intentionally made up stories. You've still not provided any evidence that they publish 4 true stories to get away with 1 lie.

Besides "everyone" don't agree they are a hoax. Unless she has changed her mind since, Margeret Barker seems to not say they are a hoax. Kevin possibly agrees with her given he shared the article. I've not read widely enough to have an opinion either way.

My argument is not that they are real or a hoax. My argument is that you're making unfounded claims. Perhaps it's your particular brand of humour that I've not got yet. But so far I don't get you at all. In your first post you say something about them offering support for the BoM, then say the DM has 1 in 5 stories that's a known lie at time of publishing (based on nonsense blog post), then you say everyone says they're a hoax.

I'm in the UK. I know it's a "rag." But it doesn't publish 4 truths to knowingly get away with 1 lie.

A couple of years ago, I read an article that said in the time before Jesus Christ, metal tablets were a common form of record keeping in that area.

 

I have not been concerned about the tablets that Joseph Smith had because I believe the Stone Tablets that Moses had were real, the parting of the Red Sea was real, and that there is something set around the Garden of Eden keeping us out. My favorite is in the book of Ezekiel, where he saw a Helicopter or some sort of flying machine.

 

Looking at the time stamp, what are you doing up at 4:00 AM ?

I wouldn't call it a dcommon practice, but it certainly wasn't unheard of.

 

My favorite is in the book of Ezekiel, where he saw a Helicopter or some sort of flying machine.

 

Or, most plausibly, a portable temple signifying to Ezekiel that God was present with the exiles.

Given Martin Harris' experience with the Book of Mormon transcript, I would reserve final judgment in spite of the expert opinions of scholars. And don't most scholars who've seen the characters on the Anthon transcript consider them to be a hoax? And didn't most scholars consider the Dead Sea Scrolls to be a hoax as well, until they were finally set straight? And isn't it the scholars who say the Book of Abraham translation is a hoax? From an LDS point of view, that's a pretty crappy record.
